■ Honda has opened up about the latest drama revolving around the driver’s lineup in Aston Martin, the team which they will provide with engines from 2026 onwards, and the statement they have just released changes the landscape of the Silverstone-based squad from its core. With how Honda plans to be a very proactive side when it comes to who will drive for Aston Martin, does this finally mean that Lance Stroll would have to dive deep to discover more performance if he wants to remain in his father’s team, or will again the rule of money keep on ruling in the cruel world of Formula 1?

Stroll is still preatty embarrasing in qualifying getting knocked-out so many times in q1, while he got the fifth fastest car on the grid. His race pace seems to be bit better gaining some positions, but never gains a lot of points really.

ive been expecting tsunoda to replace stroll come the honda change, it just makes sense because thats one of the only reasons tsunoda is with RB, because of the Honda partnership. I think this gives Lance a chance to sort of revive his career in the WEC like Mick is doing. I have maybe a little more respect for stroll as his last few seasons have been good but not anywhere near where he should be, while tsunoda is showing up a seemingly OK daniel riccardio and proving he deserves a faster drive. This and next years silly season will defineitly be one for the history books.

As these drivers are supposedly the 20 best in the world, he maybe in the top 50 or 100 best in the world. No shame in that. Same for Mick. Doesn't make you a bad person as you are not what you do and the opposite which is in some ways worse. "He's a great driver = He's a great human being", which is ridiculous. Lance seemed capable with possibilities when he started out. Then hit a wall.

It has always been assumed Yuki goes to Aston with Honda power, he has been a factory backed driver since he was 16 and Honda absolutely has a major vote in who gets the seat next to Fernando. This is basically a done deal and Stroll goes WEC, the only remaining question does Stroll Sr. sell the whole operation to Aramco-i think yes and he walks away

HRC (Honda) President Koji Watanabe recently ( March 6) said in a interview in Japan that he told Yuki " the fact that we are working with Aston Martin from 2026 , does not mean Honda-trained drivers have to drive for Aston Martin with Honda ,what is important is Honda-trained drivers are among the worlds best , regardless of which team they are with" Watanabe admitted when Aston Martin deal was announced,that they would like to have Yuki at Aston Martin in '26 but that would be up to Lawrence Stroll to decide, HRC can't force their choice on Stroll , imo Lawrence Stroll might replace Lance with a driver like Carlos Sainz but not a driver like Yuki Tsunoda

It's definitely time that Lawrence Stroll wakes up to the fact that Lance simply isn't up to par if he wants AM to be winning Championships! He's not got the mental fortitude or the skill to do what's necessary at the moment. I fear it's a case of not having had to work for his place. Or even fight to keep it! Personally, they should bring in Sainz, as he's free.

It wasn't too long ago that Stroll had an accident that would have meant sure death if it had happened in earlier F1 (say 2001 and before). I see a distinct change in him as a driver and in interviews since that time. As much as we'd like to think of these drivers as gods I think its important to remember they are human and can get terrified and nervous. As for being the son of the owner. Well, I can tell you from personal experience that it is not always a good thing. More often than not you feel obligated to stay when you want to leave. So, does he lose his temper because he's spoiled or is it because he has the extra pressure of feeling obligated to stay in a sport in which injury and death are a real possibility?

I might add, that Lawrence Stroll does not seem to be an easy guy when you are at the level when everything that man touched our was involved in turned out to be successful, he is at a very high level of performance, and he is an excellent businessman, and although it's ultimately about money and profit it's also a question of reputation and performance, I'm certain that being his son, on top of everything, I'm pretty certain he's under a lot more pressure than we think.

Lately I've started to investigate another line of thinking. Not many drivers looked good next to Alonso or Verstappen in the past handful of seasons, but none of them looked bad enough to evoke Mazepin or Latifi vibes, except maybe for Vandorne, though McLaren at that time would make his shot at it that much worse from the start.

I've been saying for months that the rift between Alonso and Honda that started years ago would likely be a factor in what happens in the near future. I was so happy to hear a few days ago that they had buried the hatchet. I've always liked alonzo, but I worked for Honda for 28 years. I'm power unit loyal.. Looking forward to pulling for Alonso. I'll wear the Aston Martin apparel.. cuz it will likely have Power by Honda printed somewhere.

If that happens in the near future, that most likely gets to be part of the deal. But, to save face, they might be forced to keep him for a season and then he supposedly decides to hang it up on his own. I doubt that A: Team gets sold. B: Lance gets fired without something in between. So, it might be a year after the team is sold.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tsunoda will be next to Max in 2025. Not because he is the best choice out there, but if you don't give him a chance, then we'll never know how he will perform under that kind of pressure. That might seal or break the deal for Aston Martin 2026.

I would say Lance isn't the terrible driver overall, but he does have his moments, Yuki or Max well Honda would prefer Yuki due to the nationality, Yuki would do well I think, but Max would bring the glory!

Lawrence is likely to stick to his guns and go toe to toe with Honda and demand that Lance keep his seat regardless of what Honda wants. Big Daddy is nothing short of a schoolyard bully in terms of how he conducts business. He is not afraid to use his wallet, or his physical size, to intimidate anyone to get what he wants.

Honda wants Tsunoda badly. They want a Japanese driver so badly right now. Honda is also the most fickle engine manufacturer also. Signing Max right now, with all the drama at Red Bull, makes Max a bad commodity right now. Max is an outstanding driver but the busses of baggage that comes with him, is not worth reorganizing the team.

Look, let's be honest for a second. Lance Stroll is NOT good enough to be a competitive driver. Whether it be Alonso, Hulkenberg, Perez, etc, Stroll has been shown up on every avenue imaginable. My opinion personally, I say you throw a 3 year deal to Sainz for $9.9 Million and set Aston Martin up until the end of 2027. Stroll needs to go over to DTM.
