Terror Lekota opposes the return of land from European Colonists to dispossessed natives of South Africa while he own many farms and shares in major mining and industries. He was Minister of Defence during the Mandela/Mbeki Arms Deal. Yet, he was never charged with corruption. An innocous provincial MEC for Tourism at the time is associated with the Arms Deal corruption of the National Government. All because he became popular after the Broederbond successfully neutralised Winnie Mandela.

Great episode 👏 again Dr. Sizwe. I respect 🙏 anyone who stood up against apartheid, like ntate Lekota. Where COPE loose is what ntate Lekota has written on his t-shirt 👕 "defending the constitution" though I understand where they are coming from, and our constitution is great in many ways, it must be amended also in many areas.
@argentnexus7129
@argentnexus7129 11 күн бұрын
The only people that want the Constitution amended, are those who have a racist agenda. It is not surprising that it is recognised as arguably the best Constitution in the modern world by many from all over the world. BTW by racist, I mean racist, irrespective of the person being white, black, brown or any other 'colour'.

5 years ago was veeeeery late, he knew as early as in the 70s more than 50 years ago that Ramaphosa sold out,actually went to jail knowing very well that Ramram sold him out.. then came back from jail said nothing about that,he went on in 1991 to elect Ramaphosa as the SG of ANC and worked with him throughout the years until 2007 when Polokwane conference came and elected Zuma as ANC President and hell broke loose,only then Lekota realized hei😮Ramaphosa sold me out in the 70s and now everyone has to believe him I for one i might believe that but i also believe the masters of selling out this nation was the likes of Lekota and Zuma, how did they allow themselves to work with a sellout all the years, they should have resigned from the ANC as early as 1991.

Thanks Sizwe for your continued effort of bringing issues of our national history and interest to the fore. Indeed your podcast is enlightening the public and it has not disappointed in carrying out that mission. This interview with Mr Lekota is a very important reminder that the politics we have grown accustomed to that is characterized by selfishness and greed at the expense of the plight of the needy has not always been the attitude and motivating factor for our political forebears who were and remain stalwarts of note. I hope that the young people who are involved in politics will learn and take their queues from people like Mr Lekota who viewed their involvement as a calling to serve by helping to improve the lives of others and do everything possible to see that objective met. Today we have many career politicians who are in it only for the politics of the stomach. Unfortunately the young people have climbed on the gravey train for quick self-enrichment opportunities at the detriment of the suffering communities. It is sad that we are pointing to a generation of men and women who stood the course and sacrificed greatly only for the younger crop of political leaders to mess it up. Today it is difficult to find young political leaders of the attitude and caliber of the Mandelas, the Sisulus, the Kathradas, the Fischers, and the Lekotas in our political landscape who are selfless in their pursuit of politics. They seem not to care about the plight of the needy. They prefer to quote leaders like Thomas Ssnkara but lead opposite lives styles than his, Fidel Castro and lead lives that are different in all respects to his. Who is fooling who? It is said that you can take a horse to the water but cannot force if to drink. Mr Lekota and his generation and those who came before them laid a foundation and paved a way for generations of political leaders after them to follow and if young political leaders fail in following their examples then it can only mean that the young political leaders have decided to do their own thing. Continue to do the best you are doing to enlighten us Sizwe and if we do not change then it will be our choice not to.

I personally think that he was right on that to make sure that the then president was safe and could also be able to relax and do the presidential duties while flying. He should be commended for that.He also correct in his take to accommodating every South Africans in South Africa.To see it important to exit ANC was bravery and necessary for him. Its good to see you so well and fit. May God be with you further into the promising future. Get well Mr Lekota. There was no 9 wasted years even if Zuma was ever been put in court and resistance against him but there is a lot that he managed to do.Trains,univerities, schools, courts, taking care of elderly people,they were getting paid on time, he managed and curbed criminal activities. Don't underestimate the enormous sacrifices Mr Lekota made during the era of struggle. I have much respect and gratitude! Don't judge him based on his recent years only, where he has become a bit odd in his public stance (such as aligning with neo-apartheid Afrikaners Forum). Learning about his stroke (and other health challenges) it might explain and excuse some of his more odd behaviours in recent years. I hope Mr Lekota finds the strength to retire and enjoy his old age (I know it can be difficult to leave active politics, if you were politically active all of your life).

Mr Lekota is to me one of the few true liberation leaders who were and are still patriots...to illustrate my point I do not recall him having been implicated in any corrupt activity while he was in the ANC...when he was the Minister of Defence he would not hesitate to dismiss even a very high ranking official who is found to have committed a crime in order to be promoted to the position he or she did not qualified for irrespective of whether the culprit was a comrade or not and...those were and are still clear characteristics of a formidable leader...I understood his anger when he resigned from the ANC after Former President Thabo Mbeki was unceremoniously recalled as the State President...Cope was a promising opposition leader but unfortunately he was let down by those members who were not patriotic leaders but leaders interested in their personal interests hence it was easy for some of them to be influenced by the ANC to leave Cope and rejoin the ANC...
