This guy has absolutely nothing going for him, except maybe a huge body of work with some of the best musicians on the planet, unsurpassed technique and musicality, creativity, inventiveness, and the fact that after 40+ years in the business he is still pushing boundaries and full of energy. Yeah, apart from that...........

This a good composition. Interesting all the way through. Terry Bozzio understands that playing the drums is not a competition and it is not a sport. Drums are for playing music on and that is what he did here.

This is one of the three most extraordinaire drum solos I´ve ever heard in my life. And I should say that I am in my 50´s and have listened and seen drummers since the late sixties. Bozzio is in my order of inner alter egos. Vic´s million thnx 4 post this. What a way to start this year.

This is absolutely an all other level. Thank you Terry , thank you for this beautiful gem!

This is the most amazing Drum Solo I have ever seen! Bozzio understands what defines the magic of a solo, namely that it is about the air between the tones and not about the biggest quantity of notes played in time. This solo just breathes, the rythm stretches and narrows and all that with nice, multifacetted colours which he masters to play out of the drums. This is so inspiring... Thank you so much for uploading this! I wish I would have been there!...

I've loved watching and listening to Terry Bozzio from back in his long-blonde-hair days. He is an innovative drummer. When I heard and watched this, I could not believe the way he became a part of the instrument he was playing. It was a 4-piece kit and (I use Sabians as well because of how great they sound loud, ridden, or soft) two cymbals. The way Terry plays this kit is nothing of a marvel. He is not just a drummer, he is a musician with drums - 6 sounds. The hi-hat and kick are part of the ostinato that underlies the rhythm. His feel is unmatched, and while he is doing this, he is also thinking of the people watching him who like drumming. An amazing talent, after 25+ years of drumming, I hereby nominate this performance of Terry Bozzio as an easy entrance into the drummer's HOF. Thanks to Terry for doing this section knowing he was being videoed, but able to allow (as always) the sound of the skins and the bronze to take him to other places....

Zappa was auditioning drummers in a big warehouse type studio. There was about 200 hundred drummers. Zappa was like, "Next, next, next..." - Then Terry got up. Zappa was initially impressed so he started throwing stuff at him, "Solo in 19/8, etc, etc," Once all the other drummers saw somebody playing a drum solo in 19/8 on commmand, they knew they were beat so they all slunk off...

Yes everyone lets listen to the opinions of a man who has a tools profile picture. Open your ears. I can obviously see you're a huge fan of Thomas Laang which is great. However, everyone needs to see the ideas and creativity in EVERY drummer. I saw a person that had been playing for only a year the other day at one of the shows i was playing at. And sure he got off beat but I defiantly wouldn't be the person like you seem to be and would attack him for his faults or ideas. In fact I learned from it, everything can be inspiring, too me all it shows is your impatient just like most of this generation.

There is no denying that this man is an iconoclast of the instrument. So the following to all the would be haters is not a judgement but rather a pondering. I find his playing to be so much more engaging on this small kit. I appreciate the musicality for which he looks to achieve on the larger kit.I am lead to believe that if he spends more time in this capacity he would be talked about as one of the greatest and important drummers of all-time not just one of the greatest players alive.

Kinda sad how great he sounds on such a simple kit. For a few decades Terry's despised stuff like hi-hats and rides, but the way he worked those very traditional sets of cymbals was so tactful-aggressive that it set him apart more than 20 chinas and 30 cymbal stacks ever could, good as they may be. The stuff he played with Zappa and UK is absolutely fucking killer, and he played pretty standard double bass kits those days.

Once again people on here hating Terry are mentioning Mike Portnoy types as being better, are you fucking kidding me? Bozzio has taken drumming so far in to the future it isn't even funny and Portnoy plays metal fills that have been around since the 80's and the most generic ones at that! And all the haters of Bozzio's huge kit here you go he is on a small kit and he plays it the exact same way conceptual, musical and if you want to get technical this shit is hard as fuck, play anything other then a quarter note on your kick and do anything worth while over it, not easy at all! Why I even waste my time with you people I don't know well yeah I do, I hate seeing someone who is this advanced and obviously over so many drummers heads betting reemed out all the time, research this guy before talking again!

Monsterdrumma Mike Portnoy is good, but Terry Bozzio is a Tito Puente freak/fan. Not only is Bozzio a Puente fan, he has Puente's stuff down cold. Puente is THE afro-cuban timbale player. He would fucking monster somebody like Mike Portnoy. Terry Bozzio would freak out Puente, because he's doing Puente's stuff with his hands and playing an independent ostinato bass drum/hi-hat pattern UNDERNEATH the Puente timbale/tom tom phrases. And some little jack off wants to slag it off???-Yeh right!!!

try playing like terry, and you'll see how hard his style is to emulate. A heck of vinnie and Gadd clones all over but no one else can copy what bozzio has been doing for the past 50 yrs. I know, he was one of my favorite teachers! !!

It's almost like the bass drum and hi hat are automatic regardless of what his hands are doing. 🔥from the master.

7:56 beautiful little quote from his Baby Snakes solo. I've also heard Brooks Wackerman tease that at a Tenacious D show. ;)
