up until now I've returned the stick to neutral doing power dunk and in the middle of buster wolf, very happy to discover this, makes it so much easier to input power dunk, and still easier but less noticable with buster wolf

The up input isn’t counted, it only requires the ⬇️⬅️➡️ in that order (right to left to geyser the opposite direction)

This is very useful, as a casual Smash player (I'm the Sony guy and my friend is the Nintendo guy) I always wondered why some attacks went off when I was trying to do another, turns out I was using some of these shortcuts accidentaly, well, not anymore, I was aware of some of these but I already want to try out which new combos I can pull off, not to mention how I'm pretty sure I'll be more consistent on the Power Geyser and Buster Wolf with these tips, THANKS

So I know this is kind of an old video but I'm trying to do the f-tilt into busterwolf with the swing input and it keeps giving me a power dunk/Burning Knuckle. Also the swing input for power geyser only seems to work facing right comboing out if up tilt. Any advice?

Hey also I find myself playing with dual joycons cuz my deck is rekt at the moment, when I do the soryu input facing right (forward > neutral > down> down forward to be precise) it works fine, but when I do it facing left, I get a power dunk 1/3 times, otherwise I get burning knuckle. Tested with Ryu, facing right, true shoryu as intended, facing left, shakunetsu (red hadoken). So yeah am I doing somethin wrong ?

So for power geyser you can also just go from down, to back, then forward. It's a bit faster.

Honesty Buster Wolf is really fun and easy to do if you do the swing inputs. You don’t even need to rotate the controller as much as shown in this video. To do Buster Wolf you can basically flick your controller diagonally down twice and it will work

It’s hard for me to compartmentalize the special inputs with the A button because they are B/Special moves. It’s the main reason I won’t bother with terry. And obviously the A button is optimal for these special inputs Really great video dude

question about using Z for jump: I've been trying to use z to jump to get the instant down-air combos but i can't for the life of me short hop with Z and i refuse to play claw lol. i can short hop easily with all the face buttons, but it feels like Z (and the triggers) just stay compressed too long for a short hop. Is there a technique or something that makes it easier? or is it the kinda thing i just gotta bang my head against until it happens? (or do .i just need a new controller lol)

At 3:10 you can actually preform the power dunk by releasing a, this applies for all of his specials. There is a term for this for traditional fighting games but I forgot.

Negative Edge is a thing on Terry so for Jab Jab Power Dunk you don't have to press A again after the input; just hold A for Jab jab, do the input, and then let go of A

Negative edge is good, but it depends on what you like. If you play with c-stick with tilts then you won't need to do negative edge, just buffer the inputs when you press the c-stick

Maybe it's from 13 years of Brazilian Jiujitsu/regular grip training, but my thumbs are getting taxed af from playing Terry and his circular inputs. I think I read that you're a, guitarist, Trixx, so how is Terry on your fingers? I think I might put him down for a week ( :() and see how I go.

Here it is. I have up tilt > power geyser ingrained into my muscles at this point but still having some trouble with buster wolf cuz well, I only like doing it on a dpad like I've done before in kof games. Hopes this helps me and others who have trouble with buster wolf Edit: ok so this swing input is actually something I sorta do with power dunk, and crack shoot. Now that I physically just know it I've been getting buster wolf more consistently so thanks trixx

you can do power gyser only doing this: Down, to one of the sides (depends on wich side you are going for) then just to the opposite side of that. super simple

I have Z set to jump along side Y but I couldn't fit all the buttons there without it looking sloppy, its essentially just saying "use a jump button" also if you are attempting to play terry with tap jump... youre gunna have a bad time

I play Geese in Tekken so Terry was easy to pick up tbh. A good video to show them smash kids tho. Hopefully they learn other fighting games to help them improve their same gameplay. Lemmy tell you, playing all sorts of fighting games and learning their meta helped me a lot when I came back to Smash.

Idk why, but the special power duck is so hard for me, all the others I kinda get, but this one just infuriates me because I can't do it when it's so simple. And it's because it counts the right stick as a start of a run so it doesn't input it into the combo.

I wish I could play with tilt stick but I’m so used to smash stick so getting ftilt buster wolf is a bit tricky since the forward motion for the tilt gets read as a power dunk when going for it at times

yeah Id heavily suggest using tilt stick in general for this game, tilts as combo starters and light punishes are so important! unless you play Yoshi, then go ahead and spam those smash attacks

@@ElasticLove12 You will get used to in like a week, give or take depending on how much you play. It's really not bad changing controls and doesn't take long to get used to. You will be so much happier playing once you get used to the change. Just change it and play with it and don't change it back when it's hard right at first.

Tbh, i find the video super helpful and awesome for people who dont know the traditional fighting game methods of directional inputs, but the part with the Buster Wolf, when you mentioned “traditional” isnt really traditional. Your “swinging” motions are traditional. For FGC players like me, we mostly use num pad directions for inputs. I.e. buster wolf being “236236 B” By the by, i did enjoy the video just make sure you dont confuse players with different lingo is all! My boy Terry needs his respect! Lol

What does a true combo mean, and why does that matter? Also I found that just doing ⬇️↙️⬅️➡️ + B (if you are facing right, and vice versa for facing other way) will give you power geyser

A true combo is a combo that your opponent can't escape no matter what they do. Your frame data/hitstun ratio is greater than their di/air dodge window. When a true combo happens. All your opponent can do is watch themselves get hit

Yes you need to be holding down for 24 frames though so one way that's good to do it if Yo buffer it during your double jump so you don't fast fall. Or just as you leave the ground for the same reason. It can also be buffered during an air dodge or other attacks. It's hard to recover with though because you will have way less horizontal drift

How can it be possible to cheese the game at that point ? I mean, they can definetely detect, for example, with buster wolf, that you're doing a quarter circle down in the middle of the sequence, canceling it and so pulling a burning knuckle instead cuz you've done the second quarter circle up. But no, it just works fine ?
