My least favourite thing about the MG role is the second you deploy your bipod and start firing it's like every bullet on the map has your name on it.

Yeah thats why you gotta find a good position to at least give you some cover.

@@Terrydactyl Yeah, but then you have to worry about the muzzle flashes that stick out like a sore thumb, MG isnt my cup of tea tbh

@@conor781 this is why a good mg gunner never stays in the same spot for more than 60 sec. half of your fire should be hipfire, suppressing the enemy + drawing their attention away from your squad mates. knowing they can hear your gun miles away, and they will pick you as the nr.1 priority to kill, use this to your team advantage eg. you run a wide left flank and make it sound like a full squad attacking, while the rest goes on the right. mg is not about killing, but suppression, drawing the enemy attention, and covering your team that's moving up. also if you want an effective mg gunner, dont look for the enemy, have your team ping the enemy and just spray that area.

A good MG will plan it out if your dying whilst setting it up... your doing it wrong or your acting as if you’ve got an assault rifle. I’m a MG main and it’s the most interesting stuff I’ve played. Especially in key positions

As a very old man 👴 that’s actually used the MG42 here’s how to use it. Rule 1: Squad leader use binoculars to ping enemy positions. MG use it like a fire hose on the enemy position. Squad leader direct the mg fire. Rule 2: MG don’t need to see the enemy. Just fire almost constantly in enemy general direction. This is providing cover fire and suppression. Rule 3: Rest of squad try and flank the position of enemy. To many MG think it’s a BAR with a large magazine. It’s not. It’s a bullet hose and should be used as one. Just keep fire in very long burst. In a match I and a Squad Leader got 48 kills with this method. Keeping the point from a large attack.

@@victorsouza676 No, used this a lot in game. Work great most of the time. MG doesn't have to see what he is shooting at. The Squad lead gives orders right, left, up, down. Usually the MG gets a lot of kills. It's actually pretty close to how you would use the MG42 in real life. I used the modernized version the MG3, and this is how you use it most effectivly at range.

@victorsouza676 false. I in fact used this exact tactic in Iraq. 5 - 7 round bursts up to 12 round bursts depending on what I'm doing

In this realistic game,suppressive fire actually works,so use it.Not too mention,you got a lot of bullets,even though they go quick,good vid

USA lmgs can shoot forever it seems like, the german ones can too but they shoot really fast and burn up mags quicker, but who cares your an lmg gunner! Haha

main gripe with the machine gun is that on the maps that have MG bunkers that are designed for an MG to fire from the windows, you cant mount your MG in the windows.

Same here. After my first couple of games I got pissed off and took a 5 month break. Started playing again a few days ago and am loving it. Still have no idea what people are talking about half the time though, which makes me feel a bit daft.

Just use a mic and communicate with your squad. I often find people are more than willing to help you with a new role if you simply ask them! I often find myself sticking with a newer person to teach them specific roles (engineer,squad lead, etc.) So they have a full understanding of all the ways to enjoy the game.

Good video. Points to add: Fire rate. 3 to 5 round bursts when suppressing, it let's you re-aim, gives you sustained suppression to let your mates move up and won't burn through your belt. Also let's you hear in between burst. Positioning: GUNS TO THE HIGH GROUND! Get high and a bit behind your team, you can then look down on the opposition and suppress them from a position of advantage. If your Moving side ways along a slope, get to the high side! Teamwork: If you can have a rifleman nearby, they have ammo crates... more belts for you and another set of eyes and a better weapon than your pistol too. Teamwork makes the dream work.

One thing to avoid is deploying your mg in front of the ennemy. Try to always be more than 45 degrees from where the ennemy is getting attacked from.

I personally dislike mounting the MG on the floor as the grass usually obstructs your vision... so if pushing plan out your route based on cover and mountable scenery

If you want solid cover from behind a barricade or a trench, aim the MG straight up as high as you can when not firing, it hides your soldier behind cover. I've tried this several times and even checked in private lobbies with my Clan. It works. Especially when reloading.

They must be changed this recently as Gebatron did a video and checked this out. He found that it didn't hide you when reloading and looking up

@@Terrydactyl That's if you're set up on a wall. I seen the same video. If you're on a bank / ditch on the side of the road or a small incline, it works well. because you're prone and on a slant, not standing behind a typical structure.

All you said is very good. My tip, 3 to 5 rounds should be normal rate, 5 to 7, Sustained, 7 to 10, Suppresses?

Important to move often as well, a whole squad of salty players who you killed will be determined to outflank you by suppressing you and flanking. always need someone to cover you as well, and brace fire is actually OP if supported by teammates u can jsut clear out a street.

Another tip: Take cover when reloading. Takes some more second but its safer.

I just got this game. i can say its probably the best ww2 FPS ever made. COD world at war was very good at its time. this game is so realistic and slow pace in the sense that it is not cod of bf. what chaps my ass the most about it, is no kill feed. i just wish there was so you can tell if you got a kill or not and they didnt just lay down for cover. (other than hitting tab and checking your stats for kills) I set up and "shot" at guys, couldnt tell if i killed them or not as they were running behind a wall or to a wall. i check my stats and i had 5 kill streak. i was like what?

Rates of fire 3-5 rounds every 4-5 seconds=Sustained 5-7 rounds every 2-3 seconds = Rapid Continuous fire without interruption= Cyclic.

I played machine gunner last night for the first time and it was the third time I’ve ever finished a game with a positive k/d ratio… One of the other times was when I tried playing with a tank squad and the other was a fluke.

I dont understand why the bipod has to deployed and redeployed every time you move. If you deploy it...the bipod should stay that way until you close it. Why can you deploy it on dead cows but not on the hoods of destroyed vehicles? I like playing the MG role, I used to do it for real in the Army so I understand how to use it, I just get aggravated with the animations and the bi pod deal...

I hate that you can't put MG34 on semi auto and struggle a bit to get a sight picture without deploying it, just to be able to protect yourself a bit better from infantry than pulling out a pistol

You can't change fire rates for any weapons. Hopefully that will change!

Nice tips, but i have a small question: are all machineguns one hit kill in this game?

No they are not. I think they take 2 - 3 shots depending on range. But headshots are always 1 shot

@@Terrydactyl It`s kinda weird tho, because for example Browning uses the same cartrige as Garand and it one shots enemies in torso on distance up to 100m. But i guess it`s all for balance sake, otherwise machineguns would be too op
