🔔 And here’s why you’ll turn off the automatic opening/closing within a month. Your car doesn’t know if the garage is open or closed so if your wife leaves the garage open, it will close it on you when you get home. You can manually override this but if you have to do that all the time, why even have the feature on? I also had this feature randomly start closing the door as I was pulling out of the garage which scared the s**t out of me (with regard to damage). Best results, IMHO, is just press the button on the screen when you get home.

Thanks for this. I just bought it in the app, waiting for the service booking. I lost one of my manual remotes and I have 2 cars, so my plan was just to use the screen button anyway. Buying a new remote was waaaay overpriced (like half of the Homelink price), so I justified it by thinking it was only half the price.

Of course a garage door opener is not worth $350 or whatever Tesla decides to charge for it tomorrow. But it’s hella convenient! That being said, it’s SINFUL that this is sold as an add-on when you spend $60K on a car. Every other car in this price range included HomeLink forever!!

We recently downsized and are moving into a brand new Townhome, with CAT 6 wiring and other great features throughout. I’ve considered this cool feature, but it definitely doesn’t look like it’s worth $350. Especially since it doesn’t work if you back into your garage.

It should be able to park in the garage and shut the garage once its parked inside the garage

If you set your feet away further then it would open the garage door if you back in.

Yeah, when he showed us it not opening when he backed in, I don't think the frunk would have been within 20' of the receiver

I've had HomeLink with every car since about 1999. Comical that in 2024, Tesla only offers this on its "premium" models. I decided to save money and pay $189 for 5 years of MyQ and use a remote for my neighborhood gate. Yes, I realize that if I plan to keep the vehicle for 10 years, it would make better financial sense to get the $350 opener...

You said that it takes one or two days to receive it? That’s not true. I ordered it and it took around 9 days for it to arrive to my home

Will any home link control module will work for Tesla Model Y or I need exact version ? e.g. Can I use older Model S, X or 3 or even Non Tesla Home Link Control Module and Program it ? I would think homelink is using specific chip which should be compatible with Tesla on almost all Module ?
