This is the Tesla Model 3. The car that thousands of people pre-ordered without even seeing a real car. So, does it live up to the hype? #tesla #model3 #longrange Buy recommended gear: www.amazon.com/shop/motorpres...

The issue with fake engine sounds is that it goes against what Tesla stands for as a company. We don´t need to glorify fossils. I completely understand why some people would want it, and it would be fun as a parlor trick, but ultimately fossils are the past, and electric is the future. I see why Tesla won´t add this as a feature, even though it would be easy to implement and fun for some people.

I have the same dual motor, now have 20k miles on it. I had the E93 BMW V8 M3 before this. Ironically, both the BMW and Tesla weigh the same and have the same range. I know, crazy to realize that! One of the most striking differences I have found is the immediacy of the Tesla power. When you think about the BMW V8 power routing through the transmission, then driveshaft, into differential, through the limited slip assembly, then out to half shafts and wheels, there is just a ton of “slack” that must be accounted for in every application of acceleration, braking, or traction control. With the Tesla, it’s under digital servo control. When you ask for any power response, you’re not waiting for a dozen different couplings along the way to mate up in a specific direction and start transmitting that torque. The Tesla just does what you need it to do instantly. As for the brakes, they’re Brembos and are more than sufficient for quick short noise free stops in street driving. People always think they need the performance brakes to stop quicker. It’s not true, the larger performance brakes only give you additional resistance to the effect of thermal fade when driving high speeds on track. Tires on the Model 3 are the limiting factor. The “green” foam filled Michelin’s are excellent for range and economy but are just respectable enough for handling. Swapping for a wider/sticker wheel&tire package really takes spirited Model 3 driving into another realm, but at the expense of about a 20% loss in range. You’ll have to decide if that’s a worthwhile exchange. For me it was well worth it to go to 275’s as my car will still go over 200mi per charge and it handles better than my V8 M3. I have no regrets! I still love BMW’s and look forward to a true ///M electric from them, but unless they really create something really special, Tesla will continue to lead for some time.

You never mentioned the money you save driving it and I never need to stop at a gas station again, I’ve had an electric for nearly 3 years and no gas stops breathing those lovely fumes and no service stops and cost is great. I will never buy a gas car again! Only tires and window washer fluid and you are done!
@MotorPressReviews5 жыл бұрын
And brake pads and rotors eventually :)
@ronalaska24725 жыл бұрын
No brake pads, but the rotors do rust from non use, regenerative braking makes it one pedal driving. I do hit the brakes about once a month to keep down the rust but if I wasn’t trading on the model Y I would get zinc plated rotors so I wouldn’t have to play with it. Electric is a whole new world!
