I’d love to have this setup, but £500 for the dream case (after import tax) and £250 (after import tax and vat) for the heat shield kit puts it way out of my budget.

I’ve been using heatshield for 14 years on two cars. It is great. For the first car, it lasted for 9 years (Nein!) before it started breaking from all the rolling/unrolling. It has preserved my interiors. To me, that’s worth the investment.

@2:10. That suction cups are very good design. In winter you should point gold plated side to the inside of car. Of course if you want to keep heat away in summertime then gold side should point to the outside as you did.

For winter you can put the suction cups the other way, that black is outside, that saves heating energy at least in daytime.

You are right. Black will gather sun light and golden side will reflect infrared emission back to inside of the car.

03:23 I think the gold/silver color choice aren’t just visual features. Instead, the choice might depend on if you want to block heat from coming in or keep heat inside. Similar to those emergency blankets which have a gold/silver side for either keeping the patient warm or cool. Just a guess tho 🤷🏻‍♂️

So, it might be mentioned in some of your other vids, I'll admit I haven't been watching them all; How much have you spent on this tesla so far, just to get it "up to date" and working? Is it still really that "cheap" of a car to get. Also, if you get any discounts or whatever for the repairs; please also take that into consideration. (Like, if I myself went out and bought a tesla like yours, what would it cost me to replace/fix all the things you done so far) It seems the list keep growing! So how much is that 200k (or whatever it was, now?) (EDIT: not thinking about the camping gear or anything, just got reminded of it as you said the suspension still wasn't fixed)
@lukass.6609
@lukass.6609 3 жыл бұрын
Its basically like buying an old BMW , Mercedes etc. old "luxury" cars seem cheap, but the maintenance cost will always be high. YOu cant expect a 100K car to cost the same as a 30K one in maintenance.
@matthew9076
@matthew9076 3 жыл бұрын
@@lukass.6609 but everyone is saying electric cars don't need that much maintenance, and they have so few moving parts and so and so. So it'll be really interesting to actually see the numbers. Also here in Norway, where I live and bjørn does as well. Tesla does not have the 25% VAT so even though it's a "luxury" car, it's not priced as one. (Not the only tax EV's are dodging but the biggest one) While yes, it's expensive as s**t) It's far from the same price as an luxury BMW.
@lukass.6609
@lukass.6609 3 жыл бұрын
@@matthew9076 And its true they dont need as much ( no trans or engine) and i would also like to see how expensive all these fixes are
@matthew9076
@matthew9076 3 жыл бұрын
@@lukass.6609 Indeed, that why I'd like to see how much it actually is, and how much of this is actually fixed during the "mandatory" / regular service for ICE cars. As they are undergoing service every 1-2 years. (Usually one small and one big)
@PeteLenz
@PeteLenz 3 жыл бұрын
But a number of the service items and repairs really weren’t needed, they were used to highlight service providers, cosmetic, or done before failure. So a running tally wouldn’t be helpful.

It appears that you have the silver/black surfaces reversed. If you want to stay warm then you should have the silver surface facing INSIDE! If you have the black surface facing inside, then it will absorb the heat from your body and radiate it out.....useful if you're camping in a hot desert!
@bjornnyland

@omnicurious2949
@omnicurious2949 3 жыл бұрын
@@bjornnyland Hmmm! Can't you just assemble the suction cups and pull rings in the reverse direction? I am an avid mountaineer...sleeping in ice & snow is part of the exercise. I would never make the fatal mistake of having the silver side (of the sleeping pad) face downwards. The silver should be facing up (facing my back) so it can reflect back (towards me) any heat radiated by my body.
@omnicurious2949
@omnicurious2949 3 жыл бұрын
@@bjornnyland I see where the problem is. It is being sold as SUNSHADES....obviously to protect the interior of the car from the heat entering the car (reflect off the sunrays). If you want to use it as shield against COLD, then you need to REVERSE it (if it is possible at all) so the heat inside the car is reflected back into the car. If you use it in Sunshade mode while sleeping the cold night, you'll end up draining to battery (to continuously pump in heat) as the heat inside your vehicle gets quickly wicked away...

I use 3 wooden supports (2 legs with a horizontal bar) and a 19mm plywood board as a base and a cut to size thick camper mattress. Im 1.90m and sloped the base a bit to get more foot space at the rear. My a/c tends to make odd gargeling noises at times which can drive you nuts when trying to get to sleep.
