Circuit Électrique is our state electricity utility owned charging network. It’s the best network nobody has ever heard of. Massive L2 and DCFC charging network. Cheap too! Bring your CCS to NACS adapter. And yes lots of EVs here. Cheap electricity and proper investment into EVs. Almost 20% of new car sales at EV here

The Circuit Électrique is absolutely the best Quebec Non-Tesla North-American CCScombo network with very reliable professional Hydro-Quebec maintained 50-100-120-180 kW Level 3 chargers that is in all regions. Teslas chargers are still rare in regional Quebec and favor larger cities. In fact all visiting Teslas in my eastern region use Circuit Électrique or other non-Tesla chargers all the time as they are absent. Best of all for 800V charging of all those Taycans-Audis- Hyundai/ Kia/ Genesis payment is through refilling app with credit card or pre-ordering a plastic RFID Cardin in just a few low signal cell isolated chargers. The internal CE map in the app is very good.

This vid was deja vu as we had a ski house a few miles south of Hanover. I remember dinners and a couple of overnights at the Hannover Hotel. For more serious skiing, we upgraded to a condo at Killington, VT. About 10 years ago, Tesla installed destination chargers and gave test rides at the base lodge. That was my introduction to EVs.

I may be the only snowmobiler out here who also loves EVs! And I also cross the border often as I live near Niagara falls NY and head to my cottage in Canada 4 hrs northward. So this video really hit home for me Dave! Check out my 2022 Mach Z turbo riding videos on my channel sometime! I really got into EV's and Tesla because of Kyles enthusiasm for performance driving and speed ect. I have always been a speed freak and Kyle reminds me a lot of myself. I decided to demo drive a model 3 performance and caught the bug with the insane 0-60 quickness. So then last summer I picked up a new Tesla Model 3, did the road trip down to Mt. Kisco NY from Niagara falls to pick it up. I had seen your videos on Mt. Kisco and was able to get an inventory model for less $. I just love it so much, and am leaning toward a Model Y Performance next! I loved the Border crossing enthusiasm, and the Canadian food and chocolate bars, reminds me of all my trips i take to our cottage. When i head north from Niagara through Toronto, this major busy area of southern Ontario is FULL of Teslas. Every car i see is a model Y pretty much. With their price of fuel in Canada it makes good sense. Keep up the great work OOS Team. I for one really appreciate the videos and how you are educating people on EVs. I'm trying to do my part, when a guy like me who is a motorhead, sledhead performance guy, tells his buddies to try an EV, I can get a lot of pushback. But i tell them just give that pedal a launch and tell me these things are not a ton of fun! Nothing can cure the need for speed like a performance, and maybe one day PLAID! Cheers!

Great video! I’ve been thinking Kyle should make the trip up North to cover our charging network, looks like you beat him to it! Electric Circuit is a little late to the game when it comes to charging speeds but they’ve been installing 180 kw and a few 350 kw stations over the last, let’s say, 2 years. It’s an extremely reliable charging network, I’ve rarely had issues with their stations. Almost on par with Tesla Superchargers, seriously.

I left MTL at 95% for Québec City (stop over). Arrived with 15% and charged on V3. Peaked at 226kw/h for about 12 minutes @ 12 degrees F outside then fell to 119 and topped at 107 until it hit 55%. Then it averaged at 75 until I hit 85% and finally 55 until 90. I was going to Chicoutimi. The whole trip was uphill. The Tesla prediction was 8-10kW optimistic. But when I reached 35% the energy consumption was surprisingly optimistic readjusting upwards. My conclusion was a 15% energy consumption greater than what Tesla predicted. The FSD did a fairly good job but deactivated it in a storm. I my Y is a P and I left it to comfort driving.

On your charging speed, check out the status of the air intake louvers. Snow slush loves to clog them, and that messes with HVAC, and the ability to precondition the battery. When they get clogged, they can't move and that may make it impossible to properly cool or heat the cabin and battery. They are supposed to have a heater, but sometimes it can't keep up. When slushy snow gets splattered by other vehicles tires, is when it's the worst. OK at an hour in you showed dirty louvers. Check in the notices to see if the it couldn't move the louvers. Living here in the upper Midwest, I keep a wood dowel I use to clean the louvers out with if they get clogged up. I also have a knee pad to keep my knees out of the muck. On my last trip up to Northern WI I had to use it a lot to clean the louvers out.

I will be paying attention going 35 behind a car that slows a little and I get a Front collision warning and yet I was in no danger of that. I can go from a 100 rating to a 65 on a hiven day just got that and the only way to increase it that day is drive a lot more without autopilot on. It’s nuts!

This is a different subject but I consider you an expert on Tesla’s. Yesterday I went to the Tesla site and picked out a Model Y performance. I added the red paint and white interior, $3000 extra. I noticed that Tesla’s price is misleading. When they show the price they are subtracting a potential savings on what they think you would save not having to buy gas, they make it look like you’re saving $3600 but that amount is not coming off the total price, yet they show it being discounted. My wife and I don’t drive near that much. Another thing is Tesla doesn’t want you to trade a car in because their offer is a few thousand dollars less than KBB average. This makes a big difference in the amount of tax you would pay. One last thing is if your Tesla broke down and couldn’t be repaired by the mobile service and has to be towed to a repair shop. who pays for the tow charge? I live 120 miles from the Tesla Store. Looks like I will have to wait for the Cadillac Optiq or the Chevrolet Equinox EV. Thanks, Ronnie

@ronniemullis8717
@ronniemullis8717 5 ай бұрын
@@zahf6484 But I still think Tesla is misleading by doing this. After all the price you have to pay is the bottom line. To me it would be the same thing if I bought a Geo Metro, and I was told I could potentially save thousands of dollars on gas. Tesla is guesstimating. If you are a Tesla owner could you tell me the answer about who has to pay the towing fee if it has to be towed in? I live 120 miles from the closest Tesla store and I don’t know if they have a repair shop. This could amount to hundreds of dollars just for one tow. Thanks, Ronnie

True but the meaning of potential savings is literally potential. Usage differs case by case but the potential for savings is there. I think that the "Autopilot" nomenclature gives many people the impression or illusion that it is more than what it is. It is just lane keep assist with distance pacing cruise control, PERIOD and furthermore is no better and in some cases WORSE than the driver assist functions on other automobile makes. Also, phantom braking is much more of an issue on Teslas than other makes. Tesla has room for improvement.

I have a question then, concerning the wipers. Do you put the wipers in service mode if you expect snow the following morning? Does the Tesla automatically put the wipers in service mode, when snow is detected and it is parked?

Just precondition the car, and put it on defrost before driving it if it snowed.

Dave, why do you have to double click the stalk to engage in AP? The latest software requires only a single click.

It's is a setting. With the one tap you loose the acc function when changing lanes. Pretty useless for me, I want the acc function when changing lanes.

@@myaccount__7269 I'd also suggest Dave cut down on repeating simple location and destination info throughout the narrative. I have a working memory. Hooking up a Scan My Tesla would give valuable added info to report as the drive progresses.
