I used to idolise that woman, back when I was 117kgs. After learning to stop eating, I’m down to 74kgs so far. That’s why the gastric sleeve always works. Not eating always works. (I only fasted. I think the sleeve is lazy). She used to make me feel beautiful despite being so unhealthy. I look back and see how sad that is. Encouraging heart attacks just because people don’t like hearing they’ve eaten too much, is so problematic.

This is insane to me. I’m in recovery from anorexia. It got so bad that I had constant abdominal pain and was threatened with extended hospitalization because I’d even lost so much visceral fat that basically my organs were rubbing together in a way they shouldn’t. I realized after losing half my hair that maybe at 5’7” I shouldn’t fit into children’s clothes and I didn’t want to die. It’s a daily struggle even now and it irks me that these people want to once again hijack something very serious to be a victim.

Well one can say that mental health is subjective so someone deals with it differently. What one can definitely say is that she keeps GAINING weight. Yes one can be stroke with Anorexia while overweight but one of the main symptoms of anorexia is loss of weight. No one goes from overweight to morbidly obese in anorexia. Plus this means that her entire persona was a lie because either she was proud to be fat or she hated every moment of it. Either her entire narrative is fake or her diagnosis and I believe anyone with a brain can guess which

@Alya.f true but my point is that if her own mechanism was to share it, we would still get some other things to point to the criteria like her loss of weight even a little bit or some other proof of it. So either the diagnosis is a fake or her internet peraona is fake. Her entire brand is about being proud to be fat which is the exact opposite of anorexia. Anorexia is literally the terror of being fat. So if she did have anorexia and she was afraid of being fat or hating being fat then every time she ate whole cakes in front of the camera telling her loyal fans how great she feels then that would be a lie. Also funny how her brand is "eff your beauty standards" and yet she follows literally every other beauty standard; she wears her hair beautifully, she wears makeup, she wears good and pretty clothes, she makes her nails etc. All these are also beauty standards which if followed to the extreme can also damage someone's psychology but she only promotes her obesity as her "fight against toxic beauty standards". Technically scarred faces are also not seen as attractive but haven't seen her advocate for women or men who were scarred for life

Atypical anorexia exists, but it's still characterized by significant weight loss and if the people don't get stopped, they usually end up as underweight. I myself got the atypical anorexia diagnosis once when I was at BMI 18 (anorexia diagnosis starts at 17.5) and a week later with "typical" anorexia. About a year later I got diagnosed with atypical anorexia again because I was in treatment again and was weight restored, but was still physically very unwell and needed to get rid of the mental food rules. It's so disrespectful of those fat activists to claim to be anorexic. It's a horrible and deadly illness and not something to want to have and to pride oneself upon
@DavixDevelop

@@DavixDevelop it's a mental disorder, not a weight disorder. You have to fit more criterias than the weight one. It is the least important one. I suppose that your entire thoughts are not consumed by food, calories and weight and that you probably don't think that you're insanely fat, which in turn makes you feel worthless. If I'm correct with those assumptions, then you're good, don't worry :) People can be underweight without being anorexic. Most underweight people are not anorexic in fact, they're simply underweight and that is not a mental disorder!!

That BMI requirement is the only reason why the diagnosis _atypical_ anorexia even exists. It is the same illness, but in the past the BMI requirement meant that a lot of people couldn't get the help they needed. So psychiatrists added the _atypical_ diagnosis for that situation. Obviously, a "fat activist" does not struggle with the same mental issues, so she does not have anorexia.

I’ve had every eating disorder there is: I had binge-eating disorder as a child until I reached 470lbs in my teen years, then I was anorexic/ bulimic to the degree that I was boking up imaginary food and dropped down to 220lbs in 9 months from my 470lb starting weight, (which sounds heavy but I’m 6’4” so I was extremely lean at 220lbs) and recovery from that resulted in lapsing back to binge eating and I gained the majority of the weight back until I went vegan which was really just a modified form of orthorexia (an unhealthy obsession with eating healthy and completely omitting “bad” food groups) and I dropped back down to 230 lbs. I am still vegan to this day and am currently struggling with a gradual lapse into restricted eating patterns… my daily consumption is restricted to 2-3 protein shakes with vegetable powder and 1-2 yams with the occasional spoonful of peanut butter and I burn an average of 1600 active calories a day on top of my basal metabolic burn, which is typically around 2600 calories which makes my total daily calorie burn over 4000. “Atypical anorexia” is real for people whose starting weight is obese when they begin to restrict, but the thing Tess Holliday fails to understand is that in order to be considered an “atypical anorexic” is that by definition, you have to LOSE a significant amount of weight in a SHORT period of time to actually be diagnosed with it 🙄 eating one meal a day is NOT atypical anorexia if that one meal contains more calories than you burned that day. Anorexia is characterized by restrictive eating, disproportionate activity that results in rapid weight loss and an INTENSE FEAR of weight gain, NONE of which describe Tess Holliday. The fact that she uses this label to bolster herself is an insult to anyone and everyone that is struggling with anorexia, typical or atypical. Fat activists have ONE eating disorder and that is BINGE eating disorder. Full stop. I’d tell them to stay in their lane but apparently the size of their asses make it impossible.

this is just people conflating a "binge and restrict" cycle with anorexia. binge eating is an eating disorder all on its own, a very serious one. and one way it can (and often does) manifest is heavily restricting (sometimes attempted fasting) followed by binge eating sessions. hence the binge and restrict cycle, which is very emotionally taxing and damaging for those struggling with their relationship with food and their bodies. it's not fucking anorexia though. a huge facet of anorexia is being a healthy weight or underweight, yet believing yourself to still be "too big". under no circumstances do obese or overweight people fit this criteria.... for obvious reasons, I would think.

Whats more, almost by definition, you have to be bingeing way more than restricting to get that fat and stay fat.

You're absolutely right. An anorexia diagnosis requires a fear of gaining weight. How can you fear gaining weight when you're already a blimp? I was fat my entire life and at 39yo, I weighed 320lbs. I ate like crap and never worked out (even though I worked at a gym 🤦🏻‍♀️). It was my fault I was that big. I finally decided at 39 yo that I didn’t want to die. I got off my ass and stopped ingesting crap. Seven years later, I’m down 175lbs and still losing weight. My entire family joined in and the five of us are down 550lbs + in total. We never eat out and exercise as a family. My middle son is now competing in body building competitions. My husband and I grew up with overweight parents. I always thought we were fat due to genetics. We proved that theory wrong! The body positivity movement is just giving people a reason to stay unhealthy! I can now say I’m not diabetic, my bp is under control, no longer suffer from afib, my body doesn’t hurt and my mental state has greatly improved! Genetics may keep you from being 100lbs, but it sure isn’t the reason you are 300lbs either!

My son struggles with anorexia , he was a big child and his dad's new wife (a big lady herself) kept on that he was fat , bought sweets, cakes etc for her own daughter but not for my children , my ex-husband had to go and do shopping for them, it got to a point where it triggered anorexia , he had decided to live with his dad after we divorced whereas the other 3 lived between us both , when I found out what was going on as he was always out with friends when I went over I bought him to live with me and we converted our dining room into a bedroom for him , he had gone from 13 stone to just under 7 stone and was 6 ft tall. So very very underweight . It took months of finding help for him and me cooking meals for him in portion sizes he could eat to put on a little weight , he now in his 30's still battles with it, he moved to go to university but we gave him the option of one near home, or near one of his grandparents so he chose Cornwall near his grandparents who kept an eye on him as he lived in the cottage on their grounds which are large enough that he didn't feel watched and had his own gardens , drive etc. He now takes care of them as his grandfather had Alzheimer's and are both in Their 80's. His best friend died of anorexia as he wasn't as fortunate as my son to have family who intervened, he died in a hostel at 5 stone , he was 6'4" tall and a lovely boy and this hit my son very hard. It makes me angry to see these very large ladies state to be anorexic as I my son was starving himself to death and would have without the intervention of me and medical services. His father was distraught as his wife was very imposing and over rode every decision he made for our children, all except my daughter who lived full time with me after he step mum had a jealous fit and couldn't handle the fact that our daughter and her dad had always been very close and how protective he was of his daughter threw out daughter out of her dad's and she came to me, we found all of her clothes thrown in bin bags on the doorstep the next morning so she escaped the mental health issues she caused all of my boys by her constant picking but when they complained to their dad she would insist they were making it up etc all until our middle son recorded her on his phone throwing abuse at him and his younger brother and when she denied it he played it back to his dad in front of her. They never went to stay there again as their dad felt it was safer for them to be away from her without him home while he sorted everything out so they only went at weekends when he was there after that but the damage was done and all have had trauma, abuse and mental health help to deal with all she put them through.

In the UK Autism and Asperger's are under diagnosed. This is mainly because you need to fight the NHS sometimes for years to get screened. Out of my clients (and myself) not one was less than a 3 year wait with all sorts of hoops to jump through first. I wouldnt mind but there is now a urine test that can not only screen to an extent, but also differentiate accurately between Asperger's and Autism. That said there are a hell of a lot who wrongly self diagnose who often have BPD.

Aspergers is not only an outdated term that is no longer used but it is also a form of autism and is mostly just referred to as autism spectrum disorder or highfunctioning autism ,the latter of which can be greatly misleading and cause ill informed people to assume that people with high functioning autism are neurotypicals with a bit of an awkwardness about them and that people with that diagnosis face no real challenges that would cause them to face any of the challenges that autistic people normally face.I was initially diagnosed with Aspergers/high functioning autism, but the second psychiatrist I say said that I might be elsewhere on the spectrum although she took my physical undiagnosed issues into consideration too...I guess that I levelled up then (Americans have a levelling up autism scale because they are to busy grooming kids and dodging school shooters to learn what a spectrum is). Also, some autistic people take offence to the term Aspergers because its is named after Hans Aspergers (a nazi physician).

There's actually a difference between starvation and fasting: Fasting is a deliberate approach to weight loss and health that entails abstaining from caloric intake for up to 48 hours or consuming a low-calorie diet for up to two weeks. Starvation, on the other hand, is a condition in which the body reacts to a prolonged absence of calories for several days or a reduced caloric intake over a span of weeks. I've heard people, as big as Tess, complaining they are starving when they did not eat a couple of hours, but people as big as her don't know what real starvation is (as it will take them a long time to reach for the state of starvation- where the body used all it's fat, carbs and protein reserves and starts to eat itself). When morbidly obese people say they are starving, it's their addiction talking. They just really need their fix of sugars, carbs and fat, or they will throw a tantrum.

Or and bear with me, everyone will see that I was lying about how much I actually ate, and I wasn't starving myself but was sneaking into Drive-Thru McDonald's and driving up the shares. And I don't have a problem with that, go hard I do it, but I don't lie about it.

Okay, some of you know that I've been spending most of the year waiting for elective surgery to have my gall bladder removed. I'm in and out of the hospital while they treat the symptoms, they just refused to have it removed, it's full of gallstones and is a problem. The hospitals are a mess with COVID, so yes, I've been waiting a year, still waiting. So I have to be on a "no fat, or low fat" diet. Or I get really sick. In the hospital, I managed to survive with no food for 5 days. When you have gut pains, you have no hunger. So I just didn't notice. Except just tired and feeling insane. Maybe not so different. Anyway, the nurses reassured me that it is amazing how long you can survive without food. That is without force feed via the nose or any liquid stuff. Just a drip with saline water. It didn't worry me. What worried me was the other patients in the ward that had some real mental health problems. I mean, really, people are really living shit lives. I just couldn't believe the problems they were having. I was in a mess about hearing about their problems, I even forgot I hadn't eaten for a week, and they still couldn't find a time to have my bladder removed, sent me home, and yes, good painkillers, I'm alive, I can wait. Especially hearing the problems those other people were having. OMG! Take my word for it, I've run out of space ;) Hassah!

I hope you can get the surgery you need! Also, the human body is amazing at how long it can go without food. I have very bad menstrual cycles and typically don’t eat for 3-6 days because I get so sick to my stomach. I might lose a few pounds, but it comes back once my diet evens out the week after. Tess definitely is not starving or suffering a restrictive ED, but she more than likely has a binge ED, you don’t get that big eating like a normal person, let alone “starving” yourself. She needs a wake up call, maybe she needs to sit in the hospital for a few days and hear how bad some people actually have it!

From DMS: ANOREXIA NERVOSA DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA To be diagnosed with anorexia nervosa according to the DSM-5, the following criteria must be met: 1. Restriction of energy intake relative to requirements leading to a significantly low body weight in the context of age, sex, developmental trajectory, and physical health. 2. Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, even though underweight. 3. Disturbance in the way in which one's body weight or shape is experienced, undue influence of body weight or shape on self-evaluation, or denial of the seriousness of the current low body weight. Even if all the DSM-5 criteria for anorexia are not met, a serious eating disorder can still be present. Atypical anorexia includes those individuals who meet the criteria for anorexia but who are not underweight despite significant weight loss. Research studies have not found a difference in the medical and psychological impacts of anorexia and atypical anorexia. So for them to be able to say that they have Atypical Anorexia they still would have to lose a significant amount of weight while fat because all of a sudden, they are NOT eating. These people are not STARVING themselves if they are keeping the weight. There HAS to be WEIGHT LOSS to be diagnosed with anorexia.....and not just 1-2 pounds .....these people can probably achieve that from just farting hard.

Atypical anorexia is recognized as an eating disorder. It refers to people who are often overweight and go on `crash diets` losing at lot of weight in a short term and thus stressing the body, They will appear to look healthy but their organs endure the same damage as anorectics. In essence anorectics starve themselves in an unhealthy way no matter their body weight.

The raison d’être for the diagnosis of “atypical anorexia” is the fact that a person can become anorexic before reaching a very low body weight if they’re massively overweight to begin with. Since early intervention is important in treating anorexia it doesn’t make sense to wait until you’ve already been starving for an extended amount of time to affirm the diagnosis. If you are anorexic you will however get to a low body weight eventually, you don’t just stay overweight/obese indefinitely like these people seem to claim.

But you can’t self diagnose anorexia and you can’t BE formally diagnosed until your BMI is past the underweight category and in to the danger zone. So it’s just classed as an eating disorder - well can bloody see she’s got one of those! 😂 You can be suffering from all factors - distorted body image; restricting calories to well below a safe level, etc. sure, but how is her body image distorted?! She didn’t want to eat because she thought she was fat? She’s morbidly obese! So nope. Maybe the 500 calories a day then? (Not a literal figure or relevant in any way other than it’s what I wouldn’t go over personally when I was pretty ill with my own ED, 500 cals and 7.5g fat max. Whatever.) No chance, or she’d be looking different very quickly - you lose weight much faster if you’re frigging enormous! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just no. Lying, attention seeking fat arse. Shut up Tess. 😂😂

So I had an eating disorder for the better part of 12 years, and I was very very skinny. It controlled my life and it almost took it on more than several occasions. These big people saying that didn't have the dedication to follow through with it. If you really were suffering with that disease you would waste away
