I recently ordered one and before it arrived I was doing some research on this helicopter and I came across several videos with this problem, this scared me but I had faith that mine would arrive without this defect. Finally it arrived and I made the first flights with caution. The truth is that it flies wonderfully. Even so, I have continued researching and I realized that there are two versions, one that comes with an optical sensor and another that does not. Mine arrived without it and flies beautifully. I think only those that come with the optical sensor have had the problem.

I have the C138 a.k.a. Bell 206, and it has been a joy to fly. I would say give the rotors another try with this one. It has not had the issues of the C189. I also have a C189 of the Army olive drab color variety, and sans optical flow. I've been hesitant to take it out because of all the problems though. Thanks for the video!

So far flying it for guess about 6 times, the heli seems to be in control, except be careful when turning clockwise make sure you put more power to the throttle because it might drop in altitude when it turns. Other than that it is a fun to fly heli. As for landing, I never use the landing button but throttle down manually and it behave like drone. It lands and taking about a second to cut off the throttle.

Disconnect optical flow sensor and problem solved just takes a little online research..

My C189 finally had a flyway! I did not use take off. Lost all control on takeoff. Luckily I was controlling from outside of the flying room..

Everyone that has had a fly away, did you calibrate the heli by holding the sticks down and left until the lights on the helicopter stop blinking and the transmitter beeps signaling it's ready to fly?

I have the camo one and so far mine seems ok but I've heard about this on a heli forum,I crashed mine about a month ago,my own fault though,I had to replace the main shaft and gear and horizontal blade holder part,forgotten it's name at the moment but anyways I will fly it tommorow all goin well,these Helis are very easy to fix if something happens,parts readily available and you don't need to be a genius to do it also,just common sense,anyways I hope you carry on flying it and by the way the rc era c129 v2 is excellent,try that,it's way easier to fly and can do tricks,I have 3 batteries for mine,sorry about the long post.

I created a test pad to capture the loss of control on my helicopter and hoping you do not have the same fate. So sad I have to shelve this helicopter. Glad others have had success 🙏🏽. The lab shows the helicopter initially responding to pulling back on the cyclic but then all breaks loose and watch as the helicopter pitches forward without input and shuts itself down. 😢 I will contact Banggood wishing they make good. Backstory… Maiden Flight: Doubted the thought of a fly away since this is my very first helicopter and from getting input from others reviewing video for possible wind gusts causing forward flight. Since I was flying close to the ground, I purposely decreased collective pitch and brought the helicopter to the ground. 3rd Flight: Helicopter kept flying forward from the get go. Initial pulling back on cyclic in pulses made helicopter tail dip down but tail would rise and helicopter continued forward movement. Without my input, helicopter took off higher and at a faster pace forward and did not respond to decreased collective pitch and did not respond to pulling all the way back on the cyclic. Due to the uncontrollable fly away and for the safety of others, I flipped the throttle cut switch and dropped the helicopter to the ground. Camera Operator @emem1613 and @mikeylikesrc. Same happened to my WLToys V912A on the 4th flight. I pitched back a little after liftoff and it went straight back at me and upwards uncontrollably. Fortunately it hit the tall ceiling of the loading bay but it was totalled.

My md500 When taking off moves back and to the right, unfortunately I can't get it to set no matter what I do! It is with optical flow!... It is not controlled!...😢

Other's reports and my personal experience everyone has no controls other than the stop button. If you can reduce throttle and power down then it seems like it's still controllable because you didn't have to use the stop button.

Would the downdraft from the rotor blades hitting the solid board have kept it from lifting off?

I THINK THE SWASH PLATE IS DEFECTIVE. YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE IT WITH A BRAND NEW ONE.

I got the same problem with my C189 First 15-20 flights, no problem, but then it began to loose control, and yesterday it crashed...

Mine is ok
