Sir Joseph Wilson Swan from Newcastle upon Tyne patented the incandescent light bulb under British Patent 4933 on 27 November 1880. Thomas Edison obtained his patent for the same device in America during January of that year. Swan had been working on the design since 1850, but took some time to perfect the vacuum to prevent the filament from oxidising. Although Edison was the first to be granted a patent he did not obtain it for the "first lightbulb". Like a lot of his so-called inventions, he stole other people's ideas then threw mountains of cash at developing a commercial versoin.

It's also the Miami Marlins, not the "Merlins" lol. Mind you, I would love it if they were Wizard themed but I think that state's got enough "Magic" as is. ; )
