PATRON/PREMIUM EXCLUSIVE: Watch 22 unedited, real-time minutes of Adam carving this handle: • Adam Savage in Real Ti...
Adam makes the iconic Leviathan Axe from the God of War games as a Christmas gift for his nephew! Using straightforward reference of the in-game axe found online, Adam scratch builds this replica prop out of sintra PVC foamboard for the axehead and carves a real wood handle. Including the paint and wood stain finish, it's a true One Day Build that takes just one day to complete from start to finish!

Awesome build! Aaaand siiince we're talking about game weapons, may I bring your attention to the Transistor, from the game "Transistor"? It is a very unique blade, which is rarely honoured with a real-life, fully-fledged replica. It has an incredible amount of soul to it (literally), as it houses a consciousness of one of the game main characters. It has a very unique, futuristic, electronic style. Also, the original material isn't that consistent, so it would be very forgiving in terms of adding own modifications to it. I would love to see you build one. PS I would also want one PS 2 Yeah, I knew that post-scriptum won't work, but it was worth a try :)

I doubt this will ever be seen by Adam or Tested staff, but I hope it is. You've probably seen these before, but if you haven't, they're amazing for shaping wood. Not a replacement for a grinder with a sanding wheel, but more an addition. Japanese saw files. Essentially a bunch of hack saw blades connected in a elongated hexagonal grid. They are amazing wood files for quickly removing material and can even act as a rough hand plane to an extent. the basic version www.amazon.com/Saw-File-S/dp/B001AX0X12/ my preferred version www.amazon.com/Shinto-9924ao-File-Sander-Type/dp/B00264J284/ (you can find them cheaper than this. probably much cheaper in one of San Francisco's amazing Japan-town hardware stores ... man I can't wait till the vaccine so I can take BART again and hit up a Japan-town hardware store. Those places are a wonderland.

How did I not know this existed before I did my wooden replica, watching someone else do it would had helped a whole lot. It looks like you ran into a similar issue I did with no really good high resolution images of the pommel runes. I opted to do a few inches of dragon scales. I used Ambrosia Maple for the head, and Cherry for the handle. The guy who received it as a going away gift loved it so it went well.

Adam, first of all I'd like to say thank you for continuing to make content during the pandemic. You've helped me immensely in keeping me entertained. Secondly, I would like to thank you again, but this time for a very different and personal reason. You remind me an awful lot of my Dad, who sadly passed away way too early for me to fully appreciate him. He was a very DIY, build-it-dont-buy-it, handy-man kinda guy. The things you do, and the mannorisms you portray, remind me so much of him sometimes and it brings me great joy to see it again. I was lucky enough to help with some of his projects and builds. I will always treasure those memories. So, thank you so much for helping me remember him. You're an amazing person, Adam. I just wanted you to know that. Please keep doing what you're doing. I'd love to meet you some day and thank you in person, and maybe tell you some stories about my Dad. Thank you again

Such an incredible build, there is only very few minor things you could possibly say about the details, and watching this was such a great time. This video perfectly shows how much work goes into these pieces. blood sweat tears and joy included. And i can only imagine the tenseness from not breaking the build while you made it.Most people would love this piece to hang on their walls or be in their collection. In fact there is little difference from what you made to an actual full sharpened version that a norse warrior could have used, Great job man.

A note about "flats" on a tool handle: Much like a sword or any edged weapon where edge alignment is important, an axe handle could benefit from flat sides to provide a reference for alignment. Swords of the past also did have oval handles as a more round substitute for a flat octagon or rounded rectangle, but in general,, flats are beneficial. An axe also has a weighted head which tends to help alignment for a cut, but it also tends to carry momentum when out of alignment. Thus flats would help an axe as well. It may not seem as ergonomic, but practically speaking there is reason to consider it.

Yup, I was thinking the same. He's going to mask it with tape. Nope. He's going to rub it off to weather it. Nope. I guess a q-tip and some paint remover would do the trick. Maybe it was left as an exercise for his nephew.

I find it really interesting how different makers use different techniques for the exact same thing. A flap disk or burr on a grinder is totally acceptable in my book, but I would still probably go with a draw knife and spokeshave. Great work!

My favorite part of halloween is making the key props for costumes. I can sew adequately for the portions that require it (usually just modifying things I bought at thrift stores), but it isn't really fun. Unfortunately the best accessories end up being things *I* have to carry while trick or treating (Gandalf's staff, including glowing stone; Legolas's bow and quiver; Grimreaper's scythe). With only a few hand held power tools (and a generalized miserliness) I resort to simple (or more complicated but cheaper) solutions like finding appropriately sized branches and shaping them with handtools before sanding/carving. After building a bunch of prop items, I have decided there is almost nothing I can't recreate with foam, hotglue (for adhesive and sculpting), waterputty, thermoplastic and random items lying around in the house/workshop. But a box or something to be used on a semi regular basis is something that requires more care and proper building. That's my next test (and you've given me the good idea, thanks!)

whoever's in charge of audio, it would be much appreciated if you just removed the frequencies of the background noise. The volume threshold just makes it so that whenever Adam talks, the high pitched background noise kicks in and it's very difficult to ignore and always gives me a headache while watching these one day builds (which I LOVE)
@luigi-op6mq

that or just leave the background noise in, the constant cutting in and out is worse than just having the noise be constant where one would get used to it very quick
