Jeff, thank goodness you took the step to break the cycle. It's extremely difficult to acknowledge the problem and much more difficult to take action. We attended al-anon out of concern for our teen sons. Your telling the members that you hate them reminds me of the people starting in al-anon stating angrily about having to be there while the alcoholic/addict is the one with the problem who is not even seeking help.
