Testing Chameleon Mica Powders Part 2

In this video I am sharing the results of the second firing of these mica pieces, one of which was etched. The results (spoiler alert!) were not the best but there is some potential and I plan to continue testing. I'll share future testing here as well.
The powders I bought were from Let's Resin, and I purchased them on Amazon. They were under $25 for 10 colors, somewhat small jars but it takes just a little bit as you may have seen in the part one video.

Thank you so much for this video, please tell me about setting the Mica. I have been trying to find a way to include this in my art but I hadn’t heard that you needed to set it.

I like to set it before capping, similar to a first firing of an enameled piece, also I think it helps eliminate bubbles you could get by popping it in with a cap and fusing without setting it in a tack fuse first. Also for etching, this is best because if you just painted it on and then etched You’d have to rinse the etching cream off and if the remaining mica wasn’t tack fused to the glass it would just wash off too. Hope that helps!

This was great! So great to see results! I think the color shifting could show in the video and was cool! About the 7 minute mark you talk about using a glue pen and making a squiggly Christmas tree...are you saying you put mica down over where the glue pen was? Thank you for the clarification.

Thank you! So the glue pen I used on pieces of green dichroic coated black. I drew a simple scribble tree, and let the glue dry. Then I applied etching cream and after 15-20 min I think it was, I washed away the etching cream and the glue and what was left was a dichroic green tree on black. It worked really well! I capped that with clear and full fused.
