Many decades ago I lived near a fiberglass company that made the bodies for funny cars. Every so often they would fire one up. It would not be driven - not enough road. It would draw kids for many blocks. Saw many of the well known drivers. Just loved the smell of the exhaust.

Larry Ehrlich I was thinking the same thing. I love high performance cars but wouldn't want to live or work close to these clowns. As if they couldn't trailer it to an isolated area where it wouldn't bother anybody? Some people just don't have any respect for others. Sad.

I've have witnessed in the past with my own eyes the actual "Testing of customer's racecars" at shops after completions that turned into all-out MAJOR DISASTER(S) !!!!.... One time, The throttle linkage jammed...On a different occasion, The Dry-Sump pump mysteriously bailed while showing adequate oil pressure during a "semi-pass" !....In another instance, The car just flat-out got-away from the guy doing the testing, But MRE is an extremely reputable and professional raceshop with responsible individuals that can be trusted in these types of settings to test a race vehicle at their location without incident !
@siddiqahmad51935 жыл бұрын
There's NOTHING responsible about testing drag racers on public streets... NOTHING!!!
@SorryWereOpen2475 жыл бұрын
Siddiq Ahmad ..... Testing drag racers ???.....Where you live ?....Here in America, All sorts of activities can be and are performed on [Public Streets] when you take the appropriate channels to obtain permission from local leaders/authorities in your area depending on your location. This location is a public street by definition only, This is not Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles nor is it drag racing on the street. It's a mere test/ tune procedure done by hundreds of raceshops and is performed probably every 3rd blue moon at facilities located in "Specialized Zoning" areas . As I stated previous; "Responsible individuals" which is what TOTALLY separates the men from the boys everytime....The next time you want to voice a negative opinion, Direct your rebuttals to the people in charge of scheduling for a ton of people to come out on the street and watch F-16s fly over their heads at 600+ MPH and only a snowball throw distance from tall RESIDENTIAL buildings....Not all Air & Water shows are performed totally on shorelines....All this shit the "everyday person" deem as dangerous, Is granted based off of what is considered "THE LAW OF AVERAGES" !!!!
@siddiqahmad51935 жыл бұрын
I live in Westchester Cnty. NY; just north of NYC. That set up looks like an office park on long Island and I gotta say, there's absolutely nothing to preclude one of the "MAJOR DISASTER(S)" you recalled from occurring right there on that street. I like cars, I like speed... that looks completely out of context. Call me old or whatever, it's the wrong place for that type activity.

twilight's last gleaming - I get what you're saying. We just had an air and water show here in Chicago this past weekend and whereas the maneuvers were performed on the lakefront, the planes go deep into the city to turn around and come back to do more stunts.
