Almost all of my new track is now laid. Lets see if I can film it working in just one take, no edits. Biggest loco, dodgy freight cars.

Now it is time to get going on scenery,Dave,lol. I would start with a few square feet at a time. Scenery base, static grass, weeds and bushes, trees and ballast. You are doing great. Looking forward to your next livestream. Thanks for sharing!

Dave, good seeing you and the rest of the gang in yesterday's live stream! Interesting new intro. Unless it's an interim intro? Loved how the layout came out so far, nice to see the cliffside park. That spur could be used for a maintenance facility. I'm not 100% certain how you'll fit in two spurs unless you pick up another one of those curved switch points. At 2:59 the consist passed a small playground with a 1-2-3 block in it. That got me thinking: Why not create a re-enactment of the scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey where the group of cavemen encountered The Monolith? LoL Also: 7:17-7:23; 7:46-7:58; 8:09-8:15; and 9:54. Much too close to the edge! Consider investing in plexiglass for barriers. I use it, and SMT also uses it. That's my two pence for now. Keep up the excellent work!
@ScottRails
@ScottRails 3 ай бұрын
Plexiglass is on the list. It's a big list. I plan on making various removable dioramas that I can place on the layout depending on my mood, so yes, cavemen might make an appearance.

looks like a good layout plan and runs well. given as you have a lot of diesels you may want a modern loco storage with a sideways moving brige instead of turntable.
@ScottRails
@ScottRails 3 ай бұрын
hmmm, I've never heard of this sideways bridge thing. I shall consider that, thanks.
@johnclapperton5556
@johnclapperton5556 3 ай бұрын
I call it a sideways bridge cause I don't know what it is actualy called but the shed and brige is more efficant and takes less space than the tradicional rouundhouse and turntable.

Nice, Dave. Smooth as glass. Who manufactured the CP "Golden Beaver"? I was impressed that it pulled off those 18" turns with a 60 ' covered hopper coupled to it. I don't think my Scaletrains AC4400 would manage that !

Test completed (in your great Scottish accent of course )now how do I rearrange this to add more sidings o and a fiddle yard and a loco depot o don’t forget a turntable 😂😂😂🎉❤ just kidding but I think a lot of people think like that when they get the layout running well Great stuff enjoying the whole thing
@ScottRails
@ScottRails 3 ай бұрын
Thanks. I know from last layout what I like on a model railway, and that is running trains. I'm not too bothered with switching operations, that seems like work to me, so I have no need for a huge yard. As for turntables etc, I would end up only playing with the same five or six locos because they were sitting on the track. This way I can just remove, and choose another.

Good morning Dave, just a couple quick questions? How high is your layout with the extra layer of foam and do you find it to be quieter than one layer of foam? I’m interested in starting a new hobby. I like your channel.🍻🇨🇦
@ScottRails
@ScottRails 3 ай бұрын
From floor to surface is 39 inches. I've not noticed a difference with noise to be honest, but it all depends what you are running and how fast they are travelling. For example, older brass steam trains vibrate the whole house, where newer plastic locos are silent when creeping round the track. And of course, everything gets a bit louder when you add ballast. One more thing with my track. I have curved my back drop, which acts like Kircher's elliptical ceiling. You'll need to Google that one hahaha.
@HHExpress
@HHExpress 3 ай бұрын
Question, are you going to bank the smaller curve which is a little to close to the edge?
@ScottRails
@ScottRails 3 ай бұрын
No, it can cause problems on a sectional 18 inch curve. I will of course add a safety wall at the edges.
