These trucks were not meant to be broken down to be serviced.. the 3 holes at the bottom are for oil and other than that it was just a matter of a bit of oil and check the brushes, clean the commutator like you did and you were good to go... you did well grass hopper.... hahaha... I have drilled out the rivets and put small screws in place when the gear cogs were broken on one of the models I repaired a while ago.

Did christmas come early.... wow what a lovely collection to add to your ever growing collection. and just FYI.. graders are usually loaded drive on and reverse off.. so that if the blade cannot be turned enough to sit on the trailer diagonally then we can mark the blade with orange paint and flags to say Wide Load and so that we know the widest point of our load.... and put our signs of wide load on the front and back of the truck transporting it. I would attach a picture of one of the wide loads I've transported but YT doesn't allow pics in the comment section.

Love your descriptions of the trucks. Really a Eurocentric experience :) The big nose trucks are called conventional trucks and can be with or with out a sleeper berth. The flat nose trucks are called cab overs and they can also have a sleeper berth in the back you access over the dog bone. I drove semi trucks for several years in the USA and managed to drive though every state in the lower 48 except Rhode Island. I pulled the dry vans and flat beds for several company's. Great job that I loved. The black truck looks like a Kenworth and the red truck looks like a Peterbilt. Really nice!

That is quite a box! A lot of cool stuff in there. Those Rio Grande closed hoppers are really nice. I had gotten away from making upgrades to our older stuff and just recently started again.

That’s my life, designing boxes and displays. Everything needs a box. 📦 I’ve been storing my engines and rolling stock in these boxes. Also, the smaller partitions can be moved around and make different size cells.

Mr. Scott, the yellow machine at the trailer is called a grader. A real Catapiller grader costs 400,000 dollars. Mr. Scott you were right. The Catapiller construction vehicles will look great building your park. Mike

A fair bit of that Rio Grande stuff appears to be Athearn and especially Roundhouse. The latter did runs of those gondolas and covered hoppers you got back in the day. I don't have much experience with the old Roundhouse freight car kits (the bulk of the ones I've assembled are of Walthers manufacture), but I know they're quite popular even to this day. Shame the company is no longer producing kits after Athearn bought them out.

I use clear plastic pieces like those as glazing for cabooses, passenger coaches that are unglazed, and for glazing some of the older diesel locomotives like Tyco F and E units, though I must admit that trying to glaze the front windscreens on those things is a pain.

Yes, I've done a couple of F unit windows. Very tricky, and not a lot of overlap for the glue.

Wonder if the front of those trailers pull off . That is how they loaded large equipment . The back into the trailer to lift the load and go . I've got a cat and excavator in N scale . But no truck or trailer . Great gifts Dave . When you get up tomorrow all your dirt work should be done . 🙃

Would just those light strips work on a walthers trainline coach. Without the stay alive or bridge rectifier on dcc
@ScottRails
@ScottRails 2 күн бұрын
I think they would, but I will be adding the bridge rectifyer when I do mine as I might still want to run them on a DC track.

I find a pair of scissors cuts the boxes open easily. Nice models. The blue truck is a Cat day cab(no sleeper compartment), the black truck is a Kenworth, and the red one is a Peterbuilt. They are all what we call over here in Australia "gumboots" as they are in the shape of a gumboot. In contrast, a cab over is just that (what you mostly see in the UK due to length)... also the dozer is transported blade first as it is a wide load and the excavators are loaded forward then the boom is turned around to face rearwards for transport. With excavators the numbers on the side usually tell you what they are.. as in 355L 35.5 Ton operating weight and it is an L series. I used to transport oversize equipment all over Australia.
