In this video I show you how to test to fuel pump and access the fuel pump relay on a 1985 Honda Magna v30 or vf500c.
I tried to start my bike after two months but couldn't get it started. I figured to carbs shouldn't be clogged. All spark plugs were working but some were not wet with fuel, so I figured it was a fueling issue. Here are the steps I took figure out my problem:
1) Test Fuel Pump - I unplugged the fuel pump relay/fuel cut relay and shorted the black and white wire. I found the fuel pump was working fine. After priming the engine I was able to get the engine running but after plugging the relay back in, it would only run for a few minutes.
2) Test Continuity - I skipped this step but you should do this second if you are not getting fuel after doing step 1. Check that there is continuity with the blue wire that goes to the fuel pump relay with the blue wire that goes to the ignition/ spark box. It should also have continuity with the blue wire that goes to the coil pack in the front of the bike. I knew the ignition box was giving the proper signal since all cylinders were firing properly after forcing the fuel pump to work but that doesn't mean there a break in the connection that goes to the fuel pump relay, so it's better to check this before ordering a relay.
3) Lastly the issue could be the relay itself as it was in my case. Changing out the relay could solve your fueling issue.
