i'am gonna tell you this, here at the philippines we are using DCA for heavy duty applications i think DCA and DCK are came from the same company but the DCA is more reliable we do already proved the quality of DCA tools they're good. DCA is for more professional than DCK they are indeed a reliable tools we use it harshly and still last for a very long time.

I wouldn’t mind seeing more DCK tools being tested, they seem like they could be a decent tool especially for the price. Like some else said Skil tools seem like a very good option for a a budget. However, that being said I like to stick to brand that have more tools on their battery platform ie Ryobi, Ridgid, dewalt, Milwaukee. People seem to forget you don’t have to buy top tier tools from the brands, some of the top players in tools have budget tools that work very well for DIY.

I think that is the thing that keeps some brands from taking off is availability and platform development. This drill seems great but it’s not like I can get hands on anywhere with the other tools.

@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools 4 ай бұрын
They call it their Jack plug. They even trademarked that.
@kvernesdotten
@kvernesdotten 4 ай бұрын
@@TinkerWithTools I had to look it up now, its trademarked but its not patented or copyrighted as far as I can see. That basically means the name "jack plug" is the property of B+D but the plug itself, which is just a basic 2pin with a keyway, most likely isnt. Would explain why I find so many after market versions that says "fits black and decker" but doesnt mention "jack plug" spesifically. Also would make alot of sense because you cannot patent a design that is integral to the function of an object. Like, you cant patent a round brake rotor for cars, because they all need to be round to perform the intended task. Whats really weird to me is that the keyway seems to prevent the jack plug to be used for anything else, but it doesnt prevent other 2pin plugs to be used with B+D products. But then again, I just looked it up quickly. Wouldnt go ahead and reverse engineer, modify or sell knockoffs without doing some proper legal research first haha
@OrdinaryMike
@OrdinaryMike 2 ай бұрын
@@kvernesdotten That's on eBay everywhere, apparently there's ZERO concern about selling the most offensive knockoffs. When you choose, for example, the "DeWalt" brand, half the results are patently offensive knockoffs. Nobody in high places cares.

Would you recommend Ridgid for LSA/Value or Milwaukee for performance? I am looking for professional grade tools that I will be using both on the jobsite and for DIY. Prices in Canada are quite steep at the moment for Milwaukee on average especially for their batteries. I can currently get Ridgids 9.0 Max OutPut batteries for $148 a piece. Is there a massive difference in quality and performance between the two? I am also unsure of what to make of Ridgids LSA if they really truly do honor it or not with their products. I have heard some great things about it but also terrible things about it as well too not sure which actually seems to be the case from an actual reliable and credible source. Thank you for all of your hard work and time with your incredibly diverse educational and entertaining content by the way. Your opinions and insight into such subject matter has really helped guide my decisions moving forward.
@TinkerWithTools

If the LSA is something you value, then I think getting Ridgid's newest brushless stuff will give you enough performance to settle that. I don't personally prefer Ridgid to Milwaukee, but I can admit that they are still nice tools. I have had one tool serviced under the LSA and no issues.

@@TinkerWithTools I honestly am mostly looking for the best cost/value/performance ratio cordless tool platform that stands behind their product. Especially in these current uncertain economic times. I don't want to hinder myself by investing into an inferior product but it's also extremely difficult for me to justify spending an exorbitant price on tools and batteries if there isn't a massive substantial gap in quality and performance.
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools 4 ай бұрын
I think Ridgid is a great platform in terms of what they offer. My only gripe with them over the years is that they will release tools at are close to what Milwaukee offers one generation and then fall back to something more like Ryobi at times. Other than that I think they are decent value and performance mix. I made a video about choosing a tool platform last year and one thing I preach in that video is potentially having a main platform and a lower cost alternative platform for tools that won’t have as much required of them.

Your comment on waiting for the top tier OEM’s sales on Christmas, Fathers Day get you a host of sweet options. Thats why I have so many different platform tools. At my Depot they ran a Rigid 4pc brushless set with 2 & 4 ah batteries for $215! I think it’s $369 at other Depots. Also Ryobi 10 inch sliding miter saw kit with free stand for $219! Granted I would rather get a Makita xGT slider, but for that price even if it doesn’t last or super exacting, I’m only using it for rough cut projects. Good line up. The rigid buy, after handling the tools seems unbelievable. 😁

I have no idea who the Reviva is for. Guessing its aimed at single moms or something where "environmentally friendly", non threatening and visually friendly looking is a selling point? Every single time ive seen tools designed or marketed for women, they are hideous, built with the cheapest garbage materials and components China could find, marked up by at least 500% of what it should cost, and about as ergonomic as a box grater. Oh and they are always white, baby blue or pink. Aaand they break when you look at it wrong. Then they are gas lighted to think "real" tools are too expensive if they dont work in the trades. Tool manufacturers must really think low of women to pull this much BS on them. Also I might be really far off the mark with this one but its something thats annoyed me for a long time haha

Here is another idea mellif and iron fist make tools that take DeWalt batteries. There is also a Bosch freak clone that takes DeWalt batteries I got that one for my brother and it takes lugs off no issue. There are plenty of third party tools that take the DeWalt, Milwaukee and Makita batteries so when I recommend a platform I usually go with one of those three
