Dangit I forgot to mention the advance lever situation haha - it's actually the reason I picked up my first Nikonos ii cus' I found the mechanism so sick! Shall have to mention it in a future Nikonos video haha! Excellent advice on the two parts front, I will openly admit that I forgot about that for a moment when I picked up this iii and had about 20 seconds of intense stress wondering why I couldn't get it to open haha! I reckon bulb mode might be for if you're trying to do like a blurry/flash freeze type photo? Or own the worlds heaviest tripod to take underwater haha!

I've used tilt/shift for large format stuff but never on a medium format camera! I'm wanting to get into large format sometime soon when I have something worth shooting on it though so could be a fun to play around with those techniques in that format!

It is best suited to humid and watery environments haha! Apparently this one was popular for use in the rainforest for conflict photography and such, quite cool!

Hey if it's still working then more power to ya haha - I know using distilled water can help recover a flooded one if you submerge it, gonna have to see about that route if I can't get it repaired

Yeah I'm considering going that route the issue is it would cost 6 times more to ship and service than I paid for the thing which is a struggle to justify haha - I'm going to send the flooded one out to him at some point when I can afford it but for now just going back and forth on spending that much having one serviced vs just buying a fully serviced one off Narcosis. It's a conundrum haha! All of my lenses are perfect thankfully cus I got them brand new in box and have replaced the seals on them - the seal I'm worried about on my backup V is the one that sits under the advance lever, that's the one that failed on my original V and the one on the backup looks pretty flat too. I reckon it'll be fine for snorkeling/freediving but wouldn't scuba with it. Much more happy to risk the iii at the moment though since I got it for very little and losing it wouldn't sting as much as losing a brand new V! Ironically my orignal V lasted 5 years with only the user accessible seals being kept in good condition/swapped out, until I took it scuba diving at which point the advance lever seal failed, although I pointed out that there was a good chance of that happening in the video I made on the camera - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jK56mKmlv9PRlqM.html

From what I have read (from the experts) the flooding tends to happen once the surface is breached in the first 1/2 a metre or so. I have corrosion in the same place you've mentioned the film advance. They are awesome little gems but also feel like it is kind of opening up Pandoras box at the same time the more you read about them! Ironically waiting for a reply from Narcosis myself. I live in Australia so shipping will be painful $$$. That or return it to KEH when they reply (literally only had to for two days). Yes I can see the serviced/tested V on sale currently for 800USD plus shipping. New in box is a good score for a lens. There is one 35mm f2.5 on EBay at time of writing. It appears legitimate but who truly knows. The dilemma of choice.

Definitely gonna roll with the iii for my first venture back into the water then haha - any idea why they say it happens that early? I know for sure my V was working fine at 1-4m for short periods until I took it down to like 10m for 30 mins straight, and compression and pressure impacts everything down there so I'm pretty sure the extended time at depth is what caused it to fail on the dodgy seal in that case

Just paraphrasing Narcosis101 'majority of leaks happen within the first 10ft/3m from the surface' 10m is impressive. The pool/now due to covid ocean swimmer in me prefers to play around the surface haha.

@@willysheepskin Nikonos V Camera and lens have 20 o-rings in them. 2 are no longer available, so that means that even after pressure it could possibly fail - straight from Narcosis101
