It might be just me, but whenever I see a really well lit face (no harsh shadows, proper key and fill light, etc.), specially in outside shots, it brings my disbelief back a little, I can't help but imagine a dude with a reflecting panel crouching below the frame

Yea, I think the optimal is something like 80% where there's a nice soft fill, but the harsher sun shadow is also slightly visible

the lumen arc looks like a way better product than I expected, especially regarding the weight and also the fact that it diffuse but not ''stop down'' as much as an equivalent diffusion, plus the benefit of the in camera effect that you can achieve while going going up in filtering, great video as always!

Nice vid. Heads up: the LiteCloth 3.0 is easiest and fastest - in my experience - built flat on a blanket, then clip the frame, then softbox from the top of the frame, diffusion, and grid. I was traveling with it late last spring/early summer through the US, and realized this after the first rounds of interviews. All was butter afterwards.

To be honest, i dont think the active diffusion is noticeable at 50%, but I do kinda like how it warms up the light locally... It matches the warmer tones in the trees behind you. You couldn't really do that easily in post. It looks too warm at 100% though.

de die frame is interesting but In my opinion its not a substitution to a normal gel frame yet, I guess it can be used as a WD range but there are so much more diff kinds of Dif like soft frost, silk, brushed silk... and I guess the light lose will be quit a lot, a normal wd gel frame dose not have such a extra color change and the main factor is, you often need quit a lot of frames and for that they are to expensive and techy ate the moment. but its a cool kind of new lighting tech

I'm at 3:30 and I don't know how much this product costs yet, however I reckon I know enough to know I wouldn't want to see that thing turn into a sail in even a medium wind and fall onto a hard un-even surface. And for what gain, a couple minutes to change a little diffusion on a stand.

This diffuser frame must be how Boeing 787 window shades work. There was also an elevated train I rode in Japan many years ago that had windows like this - they would go diffused/translucent as the train passed close by apartment windows, then back to transparent so you could see out as normal over the city. It's not new technology at all.

USD $5200 or the LumenArc? A little exxy. Pretty cool though. It would be a hell of a lot Cheaper and not a lot more difficult to have pre-skun frames of your favorite 2 or 3 grades of diffusion. Where the LumenArc would come into it's own is rigging it in difficult to reach places where changing the frames would be a pain in the ass but remotely controlling the LumenArc would be a piece of piss. Or fading the diff level during a take for a special effect. Like a fake timelapse moving from overcast to sunny. Thanks for showing it of Lewis.

yea, I was thinking that it made rather a lot of sense from an environmental/waste standpoint but that's assuming it stands the test of time because I am sure the manufacturing is wasteful. It would be interesting to map our the return on investment if you averaged out your diffusion consumables over a year. @@alexandranell9879
