In this video, I try out my new flexee loom by k b looms. I got this guy on amazon, if you're looking for it, and it comes in both "chunky" and "skinny" sizes, for different sized yarns. I have a few projects in mind that will make use of all the different sizes of this loom, but first, I decided to try to make an ear warmer headband. The weather is getting colder and my hair is always in the way of cute hats, so I thought I would try a warm headband to save my poor chilly ears. I think this tutorial is pretty easy, even if you haven't really used a knitting loom before. The headband ends up being pretty cute, although it's hard to judge, because I think I look silly in hats. At least it's warm and soft! I would recommend this loom, I like how the pegs are closer together than the standard knitting looms and it's cool that you can make it any size you want. I think there will be a lot more projects on this knitting loom, so stay tuned to see more!

Your headband/ear warmer is cute. I personally enjoy the Fleexee looms....and have all the sizes. Appreciate the ability to customize the size for adult, children and baby size hats. The various spacing options also allows unique designs.(have not tried mixing the sizes....but will in a future project) A favorite feature is the ability travel with the Fleexee Loom projects, cause I can fold it up to fit in my travel pouch! Oh, and the price of Fleexee looms is so reasonable that I bought 2 sets of each! (I also have many traditional KB wooden knitting looms too! Enjoy options😉)

Just a thought, and I think you were heading there anyway, Looser cuffs work okay if they are part of a full toque or hat, but without the support of the cap and one's head, ear warmers seem to benefit from being a bit smaller (either fewer stitches or a change of yarn gauge. That "knot" was really cute, and you might have been able to snug some excess band up inside it. Nice job!!

Thank you! I have an ear warmer that's really cute, but it's too tight to be comfortable, so I probably erred a little too far on the loose side! I'm making another one for Lilli, way smaller, so it will probably be tiny! Eventually I'll figure it out!

I just slip the loom over my head and use that for a gauge....since I am using chunky knit.....( Bernat softee chunky in Grey Heather...😁 ). I will try to remember to report if my headband earwarmer actually fits, or fit or the eight year old neice gets it!

I really wish someone would make a video on what to do if you make a mistake with one of these looms. I set my work down and went to get a drink. When I came back, I discovered my cat had pulled two loops off. And not 2 next to each other either. Trying to get them back on properly is VERY frustrating! Any 'slack' is taken up by the stitches on either side. I was making a hat and have decided to start over.😢

Yes! That’s so annoying when the loops come off! I have no tips. I just fumble around and grab a loop and just hope for the best!

Those "size/gauge" numbers you read from the instruction sheet seem to be about the same that would be cast on for a needle knitting project. Makes sense.

I'll have to try smaller yarn too, to see if that makes a difference. The whole charm of this particular loom was the smaller gauge, so it would work with skinnier yarn. hopefully it does!

You should try the super stretchy cast off it’s a lot easier and it gives the head band a neater and stretchy look.

They’re really fun! Do you ever use them all together? I can imagine a massive tube, but I don’t know what you’d ever do with it! 😁

I haven’t made a blanket with this but I’m sure you could.. especially if you made some smaller rectangles and sewed them together like a quilt/afghan

question regarding making the loom a shape of circle, i see you didn't form it all the way to a circle so once it's all connected do we just start knitting and eventually it'll create circle?
@AssemblyRequiredCrafts
@AssemblyRequiredCrafts Жыл бұрын
Yes, you make the loom into a circle (just connect it in a loop) then you knit around and around and the knitting forms a tube!

I am a huge fan of the flexee loom links, I have all 3 gauge sizes ( chunky 5/8” gauge, skinny 3/8” gauge and regular 1/2” gauge ) I been recommending them, for the past year.

@@AssemblyRequiredCrafts you’re going to love them☺️ am currently working on a hat on the regular links,decreasing the top by removing links so that it won’t be bulky, I also make dolls with the skinny links, and almost complete a cardigan with the chunky links.
