17 foot whip
The CHA SS17 is a standalone stainless steel whip made of 10 sections which extend to 17': and collapses to 27". The whip can easily operate a full quarter wave from 6M through 20M with manual adjustment without the need of a loading coil or can be combined with the CHA MPAS 2.0 as main radiator.
The SS17 is a rust resistant vertical whip equipped with a standard 3/8-24 base mounting. If combined to the CHA MIL EXT 2.0 (8.8' long), a 25.8' long vertical antenna can be created.
Mtn Topper 3b QRP LNR Precision trail friendly
LNR Precision. The Mountain Topper does not have the European CE mark, thus European customers that this affects should not purchase if this is an issue for you. At this time, we will not be offering this as a modified kit as we did for the original Mtr3b.
The Mountain Topper Rigs are designed to be a very small, light weight, very battery efficient, multi-band CW rig suitable for field operation. The small size and low weight make this rig ideal for SOTA operators and backpackers.
● 3 band operation - 40/30/20
● Wide power supply operation - 6V to 12V
● Low operating current - 20 ma @ 6V, 15 ma @ 12V
● 5+ Watts out at 12V supply, 2.5-3W at 9V supply
● Easy to read 2 line LCD display with back lighting.
● Push button tuning and audio limiting eliminates protruding knobs.
● Iambic B mode keyer, 9 to 31 WPM range in 1 WPM steps.
● Three, 63 character message memories with beacon mode.
● Optional decoding and display of Morse being sent via paddle. Know you are sending good code.
● Built in 24 hour real time clock.
● Battery back up restores last used settings on power up.

I went 65 miles to a park with my Mountain Topper. I set up, tuned my buddi pole, reached for my Pico key and it wasn't there. CW radio with no key. I found a power adapter plug with two points coming out. I wet my finger and it became a straight key. No contacts that day but it is something I will never forget again. At least the guy didn't sit on his tailgate with his short shorts on watching you. 73!!!

Now that was an awesome comment. Love that, man I was getting mad just hearing you tell that story about forgetting something, but you had a clever response. Love it. And yeah, this time the dude left me alone. I have a question... Why can't hot women come and bother me huh? Then I probably wouldn't complain.

I remember people were curious about what you were doing when you made videos in Missouri. Seems like folks in Oklahoma are equally curious. Human nature, I guess. Remember the PR side of ham radio. That doesn't stand for Paranoid Radio, it's public relations. Just like your awesome videos are great educational tools. Peace.

I get how you feel about folks stopping by or watching you. In the end I actually tell them what I am doing or if someone is watching me I ask them how they are going when they respond I tell them what I am doing. Often people are just happy to get an answer. If it continues I ask them if they come here often. etc. If the convo goes a few overs I say, "I need to get back to what I am doing, but nice to meet you etc" It took me ages to figure out how to do that as it is not something that comes naturally for me anyway.

What a shame you forgot your connectors. I have several small bags with one of each connectors that fit all radios and connectors and antennas. Cost me about seven dollars plus the “bag”. I have three different backpacks, one each for a qrp radio, one for the Yaesu 891, then one for the 817 radio, a small canvas bag that stays one the car trunk, and one for the beach condo. I got tired of standing in a parking lot and screaming at myself. I probably have about $100.00 tied up in all my redundancy, a small price to keep from having an stroke. Took me about a year to devote the dollars to get all of this. A different bag for each radio with different antennas, different radials, keys and mics. I have an extra bag if you want to try one out and see if you like the idea.

I live in Cincinnati. Our public parks have similar issues. I work for the city in a law enforcement type role and know why the guy approached you. Unfortunately he probably wasn't interested in whether you were fishing or not. You reversed in. That is a signal to guys who are looking for a guy-guy quickie or hookup. Right or wrong, you were a lone guy reversed in a parking spot.
@hamradiocq
@hamradiocq 2 жыл бұрын
Yikes man... is parking reversed a 'thing'? I do that so my trunk can be accessed better.
@davidhartinger636

Unfortunately, yes. It signals the hookup. In an empty parking area, park across lanes with driver door to the grass/non-parking side.
