Much appreciation for your monetary sacrifice towards testing some of the "scameras" that infest the fake review haven known as Amazon. Hopefully this video gets enough traction for casual would-be budget buyers to find easily so they can be properly informed before dropping hard-earned money on these things.

As a scamera enthusiast, I can say that most of these are basically 10 year old webcams with an extra zero added to the end of the megapixel count.

Tbf that camera wasnt “bad” for 100 bucks. But i mean, i would rather go for a cheap old canon camera still… some of the older used dslr’s are 1000x better at around the same price

@@slampest obviously, for 100$ you can get a lot of cameras, m4/3 or even something with aps-c sensor like samsung nx or sony nex series.

Yeah. I would want to buy the S9, but not for 1500. I get the sensor, the codecs etc, but for that camera I would only pay for about 700-800 tops.

I owned the Akaso brand before. It is great for those on a budget and those who do not care about audio much. Really great footage underwater and a butt load of accessories.

When the pandemic hit, I needed a webcam, but even the cheapest logitech ones were over $100. So I bought an Akaso Brave 4 for like $80 and after playing around with settings it's SO much better than most dedicated webcams these days, even the ones that go for quite a bit more. So unless you're using one of the fancy over $200 webcams, I'd say the Akaso would outperform it. This is using just the USB cable and no need for batteries as the cable feeds power to the camera.

The BIGGEST DRAWBACK for most webcams is the almost obsolete USB 2.0,choppy frame rates and freezes above 20fps.

I bought a Brave 4 about 6 years ago. Love that thing. Came with a lot of accessories and the USB webcam feature was a bonus.

Just get an used Point-and-Shoot from 5-10 years ago. I paid equivalent of 30 bucks for two cameras, one for my kids, and one just for fun of it. And both take decent photos and support at least HD 720p...

Cool, I had a no-name action camera, and it is very freeing not to worry about expensive gear getting damaged. Honestly, if it has at least 24fps HD and a good internal mic, there is nothing more you need to capture something memorable. I am considering buying the Panasonic V380 just because the constant zooming in and out on random things makes videos so funny to me. Thanks for the video.

I'm one of those 7k that bought the Akaso. I don't use it outdoors, I use it indoors. I have it on a mount on my sewing table and use it in my streaming setup. In webcam mode, it has a lot less features. But as a webcam it's not bad, I do wish the image stabilization applied as my sewing machine does cause vibrations in the clamp mount. For my needs, honestly, it's great.

i use Akaso's cameras as a gopro alternative. im using the Brave 4 right now to get shots inside of a reptile tank and and another one getting welding footage close up

I think the most interesting things are the very cheap action cams. I would use it as a Webcam because webcams are still damn expensive and have a worse quality than the action cams

I think a lot of people rate these items high because they think they are good for the value, not necessarily that they are 4 star worthy for quality.

i used to own that action cam and i actually really miss it, i lost it somehow. i will say when i used it underwater i never noticed any condensation so i think it may just be a case that varies between people

I actually have the Akaso camera! Well, I have the "pro" version, the EK7000 PRO. I bought it to film some rides at Sea World and Six Flags. It still works, and I'm thinking of seeing if I can use it as a webcam now

Ive seen some of the camcorders with a night vision option. I wonder what the quality of those it. The action camera looks ok for a holiday, where you might not want to risk a go-pro.

I actually use this Akaso action cam on my FPV drones. Decent video quality and weighs so little. Makes crashes a bit more affordable Thanks for the great video

Akaso cams are pretty decent. Used one as a helmet camera for a while on my honda shadow. The footage was solid but the mic HATED the wind noise and would peak at idle because of the bikes loud exhaust. The one i had didnt have external mic support unfortunately, so now i just use it as a webcam with my dedicated mic as the audio input.

This was a really fun video! Awesome stuff. The $53 camcorder was surprisingly decent looking. With a little color adjustment, it would look 90% similar to the Sony footage. That's mostly thanks to your fantastic lighting which affects quality a lot more than people think!

I got the 4K version of that camcorder to test for Vine, and it's actually pretty decent. The only real problem with it is that it requires a MASSIVE amount of light. The sensor must be really small. If they put a better sensor on it, it would be a great camcorder. The advantage of a camcorder over a mirrorless/DLSR is unlimited recording time. A mirrorless/DLSR has a maximum of 30 minutes per video, but a camcorder will record continuously until either the battery dies or the SD card fills.

Best bet is buying a used canon point and shoot or camcorder from eBay. I’ve done it, you get better quality for the $$. Only 1080p tho but that’s fine for quick moment capture. The cameras I got from eBay were the canon powershot sx40 hs for 80$, Canon Vixia HF R50 $90. Not perfect but definitely reliable

If I only had a limited budget, I think I'd trawl ebay and look for something like a Panasonic HC-V 130 or 160. The price would be similar and you'd get a far more pleasing result.

Amazing how much audio quality have influence on the video quality nowadays Smartphone cameras are amazing so if you starting up and don't have the money just get a decent microphone and you ready to roll

The 1st camera has a smartphone sensor. Smartphones have had 48 MP since for like 6 years now. I'd be willing to bet that it's using leftover sensors that are out of production. In short, expect worse quality than you get out of a smartphone because you dont have the fancy processor or software here, but you do get the mediocre optics and sensor size that your smartphone has.

Probably a good first time camera for child to practice their photo skills, but again cell cams are next level of competition. Perhaps a cheap surveillance device, 50$... I have tried to previous under water Verizon, but not but not impress. The software is the magic of image capture...

I'm not going to lie my first camera a "MIVISION action cam" supposedly shot 1080p 60fps but what a big disappointment that 1080p looked closer to 480p. Enough to discourage anyone trying to get into content creation lol.

Remember when buying via Amazon meant something? It rose from a lot of dubious electronics sellers on Ebay and online that just began selling trash goods and would never reply, or return your money. Amazon, for a while it had legit traders but now I believe it only takes registered brands - but these are just total rubbish names made up to sell crap. I recntly bought a DJI drone as there are literallly 100s of rubbish drones claiming, like these camera, the world.

The camera is a knockoff of a another Chinese camera brand named Melcam,theirs has been having surprisingly good reviews,pictures are very bright and colours are good. It seems to be very popular so its been copied by others seeking to cash in its popularity. The frame rates are high,4K@30fps.

I suppose everyone who buys these cameras exect nothing more then what they get so rate these cameras highly because what do you expect for a hundred dollars or less.
