I'm UK based and looking to get a tile cutter as good as this one. I'm planing on recycling lots of tiles by cutting them into small squares to paint black & white for a Victorian hallway and bathroom floor. The "Victorian tiles" are very expensive so I figure I can make some from some left over tiles.

I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.

Just bought one little today and I was much impressed. It is easy. Easier than to cut lumber with standart saw. Of course not for too thick plates.

I do a TON of Metro wall tiling here in London. Its the 'in' look! Always use these little cutters for metro.

I picked up one of these at The ReStore and the two screws holding the end fence were loose. Mark a wide tile to the same width at the start and end of a score, compare to the wheel location, and adjust the fence angle to ensure a uniform width of cut. I was cutting 9-mm porcelain with no issues and found that a single, firm score resulted in a cleaner cut than using multiple scores. Remember to use oil on the cutting wheel and wear safety glasses to keep the chips away from your eyes.

After scoring the series of square tiles, you need to bridge the left and right sides with a small block of wood. Then you can snap each one, one at a time as you move the wood.

I think you could add a small piece of wood, 1/4” thick x 1/2 x tile width to snap the mosaic tile. The wood concentrated the force on the one and subsequent tiles. Might or might not work, is a good trick I learned recently.

Omg I never realized you could cut porcelain with a regular cheap tile cutter! (Thought the cheap-y would only do thin ceramic tiles) Damn! Just tiled a small bathroom yesterday and was shocked how easy the cuts were on my $20 Home Depot special hehe. Again thank you for the videos. 👊

I believe it says on the box it cuts up to 3/8’ of a inch. Cut everything it said it would.

How much pressure does it need when scoring for a very straight cut?

It wouldn’t cut the sheeted tile because the bridge on the breaker is to wide. The tile has to be at least 3 inches wide. I use this same breaker for stained glass. Works great.

Glad he said you don't need a perfect cut cause I almost ruined a laminated tile with a Anvil brand 21$ tile cutter .

Here in canada we have princess auto. My tile tools were out of town and I needed a cheap cutter to get me through. I bought the power fist cutter from princess auto in Hope's that I could get done work done with it for 18 dollars. Its identical to that cutter except for different branding and I was surprised at what it was able to do for so cheap.

Darn I was hoping you would demo a glass subway tile. I wonder if these carbide blades get dull after a while?

You didn't check it for accuracy. Will it follow a line ? My slightly larger version won't.... too much play in the cutting head pivot bolt.

But on the porcelain mosaics it looks like the pressure points from the tile cutter is on the mosaics on the sides of the one with the "cut", and not on the actual mosaic that should be snapped.

It is worth noting that if you want to install 12" on the diagonal you will need a minimum 17" tile cutter so be aware of Pythagoras and diagonals!!!

And where does slate tile fall into the hardness of the other material you used. I’ve never remodeled anything in my life, and of all the tile to choose as a backsplash I chose slate Mosaic. I bought a tile cutter similar to yours for around 25 bucks. Trying to cut this was a joke. I also have some 2 x 2 glass tile I tried this cutter on and it literally cuts crooked. So I’ll be returning this little thing tomorrow and looking for something that will cut slate tile.

I reckon if you scored it twice it may have snapped the mosaics and porcelain But never know..it’s a good little cutter I do use my small little sigma for any job that the tile will fit and is it’s a great cutter have it years but a it’s lot dearer than 20$ Good video might get me one if these 👍

Man thats awfully cheap for a pretty decent cutter. It beats dragging your wet saw around for a small job. In the old days thats all we used unless you had really thick tile. Of course it was more expensive cutter and you could only buy them at a real tile shop. Thanks for the video.

What about 16x16 tiles? That small tool probably wont work on bigger tiles. Those wet saw machines are expensive. The cheaper manual tile saw i heard bad reviews that they are cheap and break easy. I am on a budget somewhere $40 and under. Got any tips to cut larger tiles like 16x16? Is this brand ok? I can only find the 14 inch one.

At 5:23 I doubt it will ever work because you are not applying the pressure to the tile that is scored

After scoring 1/2 inch you did not simply use a rubber mallet over a wire or dowel.
