In this video we show what it is like using the wood stove to heat the house on a typical winter evening in the Tiny House - with about 2 months of experience. Our house is 192 sq feet and has high ceilings, but it is well insulated (compared to a typical RV).
/////*****/////*****/////*****/////*****/////
We are just a normal couple living a rather unusual lifestyle in a Tiny House on Wheels (192 square feet) trying to fit more adventure, travel and exploration into our lives! We love to go camping, hiking, backpacking, kayaking…and traveling with our 16 foot Scamp Trailer. We have an awesome Adventure dog named Redford that is up for anything. Come with us as we Let New Adventures Begin!

It's good to have the electric supplemental heat. I used to lay next to my wood stove without a blanket I just wake up to feed it when I got cold enough LOL

I follow a channel “Little House off Grid” and he built himself a tiny house and uses a wood stove, he discusses the dampness of the wood and hard to burn, something like that! I enjoyed your explanation of how you use your wood stove!

I like to use the blowtorch( the ones the connect to the 1lb propane tanks) to start my fires now. Dry kindling and dry logs then torch it. Instant fire.

To clean the door build the fire closer to the glass. It will burn the carbon off the glass.

I had a stove on my old house and I learned that you can pack the stove full and let it burn to desired temperature then choke to make it last longer and prevent creosote build up, the creosote on the glass door indicates you are not burning effeciently. Let the temperature reach about 450F then choke it, the creosote on the glass will burn and should be clear when you are burning correctly. I suggest a miter saw to cut the wood to smaller pieces with ease to avoid spending so much time manually cutting it

Wood stove heat is the best. Been using them for fifteen years, always warm. Make sure to introduce moisture into the air, to lessen dryness! 😊

To clean glass use old fashioned black and white newspaper with some water. Water in a bowl and crumple up a piece of newspaper and get it moist. Rub in small circles on glass with pressure. Old timer solution my Uncle taught me. He also used a bit of turtle wax if you can still find it after cleaning to help keep it clean but I don't usually do that.

Is there an intake tube that draws in cold air from the outdoors into the wood stove? Sometimes wood stoves will draw in warm air from a living space which creates a few issues. It sounds like efficiency doesn't really matter here because the stove is working so well, so I guess it doesn't matter much! It's amazing how something so small can work so well - cool stuff!
