There is only one problem I saw with your testing. You should have used 2 different buckets of dry-wall mud. That way each drill could have a fresh start. The Makita drill testing loosened up a lot for the DeWalt. The friction that occurs inside the mud no doubt raised the temperature of the mix which made it easier to stir.

I'm a lineman by trade, and we use auger bits everyday to drill through wooden poles for cross arms and brackets . We use impact drills with the 7/16 quick chuck , they are designed for those bits . The impact action gives you zero arm twist so extra handle is not needed and have no doubt would have chewed completely through that log. Great video!

The popularity of Milwaukee tools on this channel confuses me, with how many comments I also see that are somewhat hostile to Chinese industry. Is it just not common knowledge that Milwaukee is a Chinese company (and has been since 2005), are these two groups separate, or is there some other reason for this odd duality?
@raffi2287
@raffi2287 2 жыл бұрын
@@ObiwanNekody few things, the power tool industry is mostly dominated my Chinese made products. Most of the hate from Chinese products at the end of the day has to do with hand tools. Power tools are mostly coming out of China, and aren't bad at all usually. Even DeWalt is Chinese, it just has the misleading "made in USA with global materials" which to me, still means china. I can order a drill from China, slap a sticker on it, and say it's now assembled in the USA. Nothing against Chinese manufacturing, it has its place, but hand tools are not typically one of them

I’ve tried both, and agree the Makita is the better between the two. I also tested the M18 Fuel at the same time that I tested these two. I can just say that the M18 is a lot more of a drill than the other two, hands down. My Milwaukee has done things I never thought a cordless could ever do and then some. You can definitely feel a significant difference in power between them. Plus, between the 3 the Milwaukee has the better warranty.

I use this battery drills now. Got some dewalt and some milwaulkee. And I personally enjoy the milwaulkee. Before I'd have to run hydraulic lines and hook up my drill to my truck. And you might containment the hydraulic leak and it's a real nightmare if the lines burst. Makes everything so much easier. Especially when climbing the poles, no longer need to drill it by hand if you can't get get truck in

One issue you will have with the Dewalt drill is the chuck. Running that large of a bit will cause it to have some issues overtime. Nothing that prevents you from using it, but finicky stuff you'll have to get used to. I've owned 3 of the 700 series, a 996, and the 999 in the video. You may be better off buying their hole hawg (DCD470). It's expensive, but that's a drill you won't be able to break.

No doubt about it, the auger test was definitely a win for the Dewalt. It was faster. Both are good tools. I have used both and my first was a Nikita. Mikita to me is more ergonomic but I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I had a Milwaukee M18 hammer drill that was stolen from me and the impact with the kit also just seemed to lose its power at about the same time. I replaced both with a Makita 18V hammer and impact kit and I never looked back. They aren't brushless but they are soo much nicer to work with. Good power, battery life is still impressive after 3 years of continuous commercial use and I've just always felt like they were much lighter and more nimble to work with. I have also acquired a Milwaukee M18 Fuel hammer drill thats brushless. Though it is a major power house of a drill and its nice to have that type of power in my hand, I still haven't found anything that the Makita couldn't do yet and I just leave the Milwaukee hanging on the shelf in the shop. I didn't even have any other Makita batteries or chargers when I bought these and have since pretty much switch to using mostly all of their power tools. They've all just seemed much nicer to work with over the last few years...

Been a fan of Makita since I bought my first 9.6v drill/flashlight combo in 2001 from the Mac tool's guy. And later working in tool rental we had a few Makita chainsaws, I think a few 65cc and 75cc ones, had a guy rent one of the big ones to cut up a stack of telephone poles to make pilings, he cut like 20 of them up and was back in two hours with a half hour drive each way.
