good video Josh... glad to see this bike in a 29'er now! keep up the good content, I feel like I haven't seen too much from you guys lately! hope all is well over there in Bend!

Thanks man! We’re both pretty much full time with the channels we present for now; Wendy for BikesOnline and me for 99 Spokes, so not too much going on on our personal KZfaq channel sadly. Bend is great, but starting to get chilly! What about bham?

@@99spokes that’s so cool you guys have carved out some full time work out of all this! I need to find a job in the mtb industry I think too 😂 Alls well up north, haven’t been able to ride much since the end of September but trying to get out when I can. Did you ever end up making it out to bham or is that still to come?

Bike looks great. Although I think they should of gone for a mullet rather than 29 29. Thanks for the video 🤙

Good video! I have the 27.5” version of this bike as the 29” wasn’t available yet and thinking of running it mullet instead of buying the 29” version. You have already done this with the 27.5” SQ3, how does the mullet 27.5 SQ3 compare to the 29” SQ3? Also totally agree with you about the Assegai’s and looking forward to removing them from the bike lol!

Great question! I think the new 29” model might be the sweet spot. That said, if you have the 27.5” version and aren’t on the market for a new bike I think the mullet conversion is an improvement in a lot of ways, and for way less money than a whole new bike!

Great video. Way deeper look into the owing experience than I was expecting to get, especially for a quasi value hardtail. Good job repping dude #hardtailgang

Glad it was helpful 🤙

you turned me on to this bike and I could never get over the 27.5" tires, one day the 29" dropped, and I think I'm going to pull the trigger.

Do it!! I don’t think you’ll regret it 🤙
@nickzarnetske99942 ай бұрын
Wish you could single speed it (I know you can use a tensioner but I'm not looking for that). Excellent speck for the price compared to some other stuff I've seen.

For sure! Part of me wishes every hardtail had sliding dropouts, SS is just too fun!

Would a large be right for 5'10"? Bike be good for general trail riding then, no jumping or other clown biking sheeeet???

Yep, large sounds great!

Im been looking for a playfull hardtail. is this still the nr1? or the midlechild? Stoic looks so much better tho
@99spokes8 ай бұрын
If you’re look for the most playful bike the Middlechild is definitely the way to go, it feels like a BMX bike with big wheels!

It’s has press in HT cups it appears. Could make 65*
@99spokes6 ай бұрын
I actually tried that on the 27.5” model I owned and there’s a lip inside the headtube that prevents inserting a longer cup like what is used on an angle adjust headset. Bummer huh!

Hi Josh! Have you found that the 29er has helped the geo as a whole compared to the 27.5?
@99spokes9 ай бұрын
I have! The biggest benefit for me is it raised the bottom bracket a decent amount, meaning I didn’t have to worry as much about pedal strikes like I did on the 27.5” model
@michaelolayo20639 ай бұрын
@@99spokes I just bought the 27.5 model. If I struggle with pedal strikes I’ll probably bump up my suspension by 10mm and shorten the cranks. That should solve the issue. I really wanted the 27.5

Mine came not air token. I added one wish I had remote lock out. Bike can be easily 20lbs with Slx 11spd and Slx cranks lighter tires.

I have this exact bike 29er but run tubless exo 2.40 Ardents 31* riser stem 40mm rise spoons 240 one up I can slam. Bike is so fast, my set up stated rear stock 30lbs on the money. With specialized water bottle holder and pump. I love the cramp postion pedaling. I can change stems what ever. If I stand up bike becomes big. Supports my hefty at the time 248lb 6-3/4’ size. Cool buy one worth the money. Easily make this a commuter bike. So linear to pedal and uphill accelerator. I found the 30/35mm stem to be a bit weird. I have a wake 50mm/31* rise.

those super-slack toptubes, are just not for tall riders. and bike companies seem to have lots of bigotry towards tall riders.
@99spokes7 ай бұрын
Yeah, it means you have to use a taller dropper post, but it is nice to have all the clearance over bike when descending or jumping
