Oxyclean is a staple for me. I live in an apartment with communal washers, and they always smell musty and sometimes like pot. My clothes would come out smelling awful. Ever since I started using a small scoop of Oxyclean in with my regular detergent, my clothes actually smell fresh and clean instead of like a pothead left them in the bottom of their hamper for a month. Haven't noticed any difference with stains but for odors it's amazing.

23:44... The issue with this test is both of them you had water dripping off them when you brought them up, aka water that wasn't absorbed into the towl just brought up by the towel. If you wanted to check how much it absorbed you would have to bring it up, wait until no water was dripping off and then ring it out into your tray for both that way there is no variable of how much excess water not being absorbs but merely carried.
@jasondergham8198
@jasondergham8198 Жыл бұрын
Even that is an invalid test. He even says the shamwow feels drier. You need to weigh each before they get wet. DUnk them in the bucket and wait for no excess water. Then weigh them without ringing them and subtract the original weight.
@hockeyhacker97
@hockeyhacker97 Жыл бұрын
@@jasondergham8198 Technically yes, but also no as far as useful information as well, though I did skip a step because of it making minor difference. The reason for that is because while you are technically correct the amount it holds from dry status is highly irrelevant unless you are tossing them away and only wiping with a dry rag each and every wipe seeing as if you are using a towel/rag the way you would use a towel rage off picking up some, wringing it out and then picking it up more wringing it then repeating the amount it picks up from dry status is highly irrelevant compared to the amount it picks up while damp. Yes if you are talking about one time use items like cheap paper towels then you would compare dry weight to wet but not dripping weight, but if you are talking about rages you use for multiple wipes then the amount it can pick up on the 2nd and 3rd and fourth wipes is more important that what it picks up from a dry wipe. If you wanted the most accurate then you would get it wet, wring it out then weight it for the baseline then wipe again and weight again when it is no longer dripping and compare the damp wrung out weight to the wet just picked up before being wrung out again weight.
@jasondergham8198
@jasondergham8198 Жыл бұрын
@@hockeyhacker97 That would make sense if that was the test, but I think the test was which absorbs better. However that isn't even the right name for what he did based on the test. Absorption would be measured in speed or the rate of absorption to determine how well it is actually absorbing. From the results of his test he is really measuring total capacity which is what I meant by the test I suggested of measuring the starting and end weight

I think the main downside between a shamwow and a regular towel is that a shamwow is essentially a specialty product. It's a product with very niche usage, whereas a towel is... well it's a towel. You can use it for the dishes, you can use it as a bath towel, you can use it to clean up spills. For small spills, you can clean up with paper towel or a cloth. For larger tasks like drying off after a shower, you can use a regular old bath towel. A shamwow basically only comes into its own in these very uncommon niche scenarios like where you spill large amounts of soda on your carpet for example, but is that happening often enough to justify purchasing a shamwow over just using a towel? This is why it's okay if towels are more expensive than shamwows, because towels have more uses than a shamwow, and while a towel may not be as efficient as a shamwow, it does the job just fine.

From personal experience, OxiClean works great on blood and oil (just gotta soak things in Oxiclean and water for a while before throwing it in the wash). The best stain remover I've found though is Skout's Honor Laundry Booster (which is just... weird considering it's a product aimed more toward pet owners but yeah). That stuff is fantastic. I really didn't have high hopes for it but gave it a try after seeing it in stores and reading the reviews online. No idea what's in it but if you need to get a stain out try soaking it in that stuff mixed with some water for a while and then washing it. The only downside is that it isn't super cheap ($13/$14 for a 32oz bottle)

Opening a bottle with a sword was popular in france during napoleon times. its called Sabrage but was used with champagne and they have special swords to do it with called champagne swords. You actually sabraged the bottle of wine without knowing it. It's possible to do it on wine (although it should be chilled first) by breaking the neck and taking the cork out. Fun fact.

One thing about the 'shammies' - meaning the original chamois, as well as the ShamWow. They work better after you've started using them. When brand new, the ShamWow doesn't absorb as well. After a few uses, it's much better.

The reason why they test with the tomato is because a good knife won't squish the tomato. Usually a serrated blade is needed so that you don't just squish your tomato all over the place and make a mess. You also need a very sharp blade as well.

@Beetleking212 2 жыл бұрын
As a chef I’ve found serrated knifes that aggressive are worse then a normal chefs knife the best test for sharpness on a tomato is using a slightly older softer one if you get good slices on that with out squashing the juice out your knife is sharp

Tyler, for future reference, when testing to see how much absorption a towel has (or any material for that matter), you could weigh the towel when bone dry and then put the towel in water. Once adequately soaked if you lift it out of the water and hold it there for a few seconds* (until it has mostly stopped dripping) before then weighing the towel in a bucket (remembering to tare the scales with the empty bucket on tem. Doing it this way will mean that you guarantee accurate results. You could run this experiment in addition to the experiment you did, as your experiment was very useful - some towels will hold loads of water, however are an absolute bugger to wring out. * This is also a good test as some towels are great at holding water, however they piss water out as quick as they absorb it, with very little wringing/squeezing - pretty useless if you don't have a bucket/receptacle right next to you. Just a suggestion mate... don't be a sausage
