The dryer sheet is meant to help static, not frizz. If your hair doesn’t have excess static electricity in it, the dryer sheet isn’t going to do anything. I know it’s a cardinal sin for curly girls, but if you try brushing out your curls with an actually brush (not a comb), it will probably work, since brushes tend to build up static electricity in the hair!

Agree! I’ve used it in dry Chicago winters, when my straight hair is super static-y.

As someone with naturally stick straight hair it gets so dry and full of static in the winter (especially if I’m wearing fleece). I actually keep dryer sheets in my bag and use them almost daily. But yeah static is very different from frizz lol

Yeah, like measure your head against the size chart instead of getting tights that fit? Especially for plus size women like me, getting tights that fit could definitely mean having the waistband too loose on the head. Also I do think a smaller mesh fishnet would keep the hairs from slipping out.

@mirandaisgross
@mirandaisgross 3 жыл бұрын
I'm going to try and explain why the clip is not staying put. You can't just clip the twist head-on. You have to come in from the side. So if you're holding your hair with your right hand with the clip in your left, open the clip, put the left side claws against your scalp little to the left of the twist, then drag them over towards the twist and clip it down. That way you're clipping where the twist meets your head.

@katyaa92

I don’t think the brush matters tbh. I think the “science” behind it is that if you split your curly strands of hair, which naturally tend to curl up all together, it dries faster, it becomes lighter and lifts up, and gives you that extra volume and definition. I think you just need to have a similar brush, be gentle to your hair, go with little sections of hair, and just brush it and separate those curls. And then let it dry.
@Concerned_Owl
@Concerned_Owl 3 жыл бұрын
@@katyaa92 Well the denman brush has less bristles and they’re thicker, which gives you more clumps instead of separating. The base of the brush is rubber and textured, so when you brush your hair there’s some friction, which gives a good curl, kind of like scissors pulling a ribbon to make it curly. It really does make a difference for me!

I would also recommend that you brush your hair up with the denman brush, not down. If you brush it up or at a 90 degree angle, the curls will be a lot more defined than they even already are. Brushing the hair down can loosen the curls and you won’t get as much definition. But I swear by the denman brush, as well as finger coiling.

Just a FYI: to help fight frizz with curly hair, once you have it styled, whether wet or dry, leave it alone (don't touch it or mess with it). My daughter is half Puerto Rican and has the curliest hair ever....from the time she was little, once her hair was done, we just left it alone and that helped lessen the amount of frizz.

Hey, Sierra! Love your content! Always informative! Concerning the fishnet plop; the fact that you had to tie your stockings and the girl in the Tik Tok didn’t, tells me that hers were a smaller size. I think if you bought smaller fishnets, there would be less of the waist for around your head AND less in the hip ares for your hair to be contained inside. If the fishnets were tighter on your head, your hair would stay more on top rather than gravitating to the sides. Keep up the great videos, girl!!! ☀️💛⭐️

Love the colour of your hair with the blonde highlights on the ends.

also, the clip thing (specifically, the french twist like in these tiktoks), is realllllly hard to do with thick hair like yours (and mine - and trust me, length (mine's down my whole back) does not make it easier, lol). I've just experimented with my own hair and found hacks within the clip hairstyle to work (some other types of claw clips work too!)

The dryer sheet helps with static! i've never used it for friz, but it helps get rid of it when it's staticky and going everywhere

I enjoyed watching this video. I have straight hair with lots of static, especially when I wear a sweater. I keep a fabric sheet in my purse during the winter to run through my hair when I'm at work and my hair become clingy with static. It works, I think, better on straight hair.

The dryer sheet hack works for my straight/fine hair for static! I’ve done it since I was a kid.

Penny Tovar (Curly Penny) has been doing the "fishnet plop" for years now, but she uses a wig cap (I'm guessing it helps better with the placement of the hair) Also, I'm kinda surprise that you never used a denman brush, that brush has been my holy grail in my hair journey!! I started my journey (one year ago) using it immediately (like, damaged hair, and half assed technique, and my hair would try to form ringlets)

I will do the claw clip as like a half up half down style. I ran into the same problem as you so only using the top half of my hair reduced the thickness! It's not all the way up but still super cute!
