I got to be the guinea pig and test these sticks out for a couple months before they were released. So far, they are my favorite stick I've used yet.

Catman, you’re content continues to entertain and also inspires me to give new methods a try. I agree: that climbing sticks with more foot room are an advantage; and so are standoffs that dig into the bark. Aiders must be a huge advantage; but after starting the season with an aider I reverted to carrying four standard length sticks. I always know that I have a stable foothold. For the hunting neophytes out there: If you’re young tall and lanky like Catman you should go for it! If you’re short, stocky and over 60 - still challenge yourself and get after it!

Looks like a real nice stick. I run the tetherd one sticks but like you said they are kinda pricey. I think they are worth it if you don't mind spending that much but these sticks are a good second choice if a person doesn't want to spend that much on the tetherd one sticks. Thank Catman!

I think you sold me on these sticks. I was looking at lone wolf, but everything is so expensive and weighing all the pros and cons is difficult. I have the original long sticks from lone wolf, and they are fine for my hang on stand, but I'm going with the saddle this year, and I don't want to carry too much bulky stuff. I like the cleat and seems like they are solid for a fair price. Thanks and good luck this season.

Question for ya Catma, how does that lineman rope/tether keep you from falling straight down the tree should you lose your footing? I'm thinking of making the switch to the sticks and saddle setup, I sure would feel better about it if I had someone to show me how it's done. Great review, thank you for taking the time!
@arborwesttreeservice
@arborwesttreeservice 2 жыл бұрын
If you fall, the lineman rope will eventually find some real estate on the tree and bite down, pulling you into the tree. It’s violent and quite unpleasant, but it will keep you from falling all the way down.

Without an aider I can get about 15’ with 3 sticks. All 4 sticks will get me closer to 20’ without the aider.
@gregbowen9546
@gregbowen9546 2 жыл бұрын
Most people use aiders on any sticks that are run and gun type sticks. 15' to 20' is plenty high enough. I've killed more deer than I can keep track of at 15' high. I hardly ever go higher unless I'm trying to get above a branch or a certain spot on tree that is a good opening for my body to fit without cutting branches. I hunt public land and follow the rules and don't cut branches. Unlike some guys out there that cut shooting lanes and everything. I think you would like a stick like this if you make or buy a one step aider on each stick. I can get 20' foot with mine. Good luck hunting.

How can something that is 2lbs be way way way to heavy?
@BelowAverageRazzleDazzle
@BelowAverageRazzleDazzle Жыл бұрын
@@seregill13 Because you're failing to consider the total weight vs total height ratio. There are many other sticks on the market that will get you just as high for far less weight to haul.
@BelowAverageRazzleDazzle
@BelowAverageRazzleDazzle Жыл бұрын
@@CatmanOutdoors Sure, but you need 4 Skeletors to get as high as 3 LW sticks. So in TOTAL package weight, the Skeletors lose. Yea, stick vs stick, the Skeletor may weigh less. But when you start to measure how much weight you have to haul to get to the same height, the Skeletors do not do well. It fine if you want to like them. More power to you. But in weight vs height ratio, they're poor performers.
