They really only have three question marks on the team. 1) CB2 -- Who will be the starting corner opposite Muhammed. Holmes is above average but not great and Cole is an unknown since hes a transfer from SJS. Will his talent transfer to the SEC? 2) Nose tackle - They have a ton of bodies now after the portal additionals, but will they be quality players to plug the run. 3) Rapport - Ewers has a number of new targets. Strengths. Edge -- Burke/Sorrell/Moore/Simmons is an unreal two deep at edge. One of the edge rooms in the country. WR depth -- Bond/Golden/Bolden/Cook/Moore/Wingo -- 3 transfers who were number 1 options at their schools; 2 five stars and another top 100 player in his class. A nice blend of experience & young talent here. Oline -- LOADED. Biggest strength on the team. Every lineman is a future NFL player. They go 7/8 deep. The only new guy is the RT Cam Williams and he is in his third year. He could've starter last year. Young talent -- Anthony Hill, Malik Muhammed, Derek Williams, Cedric Baxter, Johntay Cook are all going into their sophmore seasons and 4 of them started their freshman seasons. All 5 stars.

As a horn, I'm worried about - DL - Secondary - Not having look-past games-- Kentucky could be a trap game the week before A&M game returns, for example - OU & Georgia games being back to back Excited about - Depth Sark has built-- we couldn't even have spring games in Sark's first two years because we've lacked OL pieces. Now we have one of the best O-Lines in the SEC (at least on paper). - Wide Receiever room-- lost NFL talent and replaced it with NFL talent - Revenge on OU - Beating A&M

Texas hired Sark to prepare the Horns for the SEC and he has done a good job of that. Sark knew he had to beef up the lineman to handle the weight of the SEC. Were ready to roll baby!! 🤘

I am excited by this upcoming season because of the level of competition playing in the SEC and at Michigan provides, plus the chance to get into the 12 team CFP. I think this is going to be one of the most entertaining college football seasons in a long time for neutral college football fans and that the Longhorns being a legitimate player nationally and not an also ran is getting me psyched up. Also, there could be as many as 4 teams in the SEC with one or fewer losses at the end of the season so getting into the SEC title game is probably going to be much harder than getting into the playoffs, so if Texas doesn't even make it to Atlanta is no skin off of my nose. 10-2 is what a reasonable Texas fan would see as a successful season. Texas must beat OU and A&M though or it is not a success. Sark would much rather start 2-2 vs OU than fall into a 1-3 hole. So beating OU is a must, and this is the first game against A&M since 2011. That alone makes it’s a must win game. 10-2 with wins against OU and A&M is a roaring success and a step toward getting better in years to come,

Don’t sleep on the third string running back Tre Wisner. He is really good and will push for snaps.

Texas/Michigan is not a toss-up. Michigan has a new Oline and a QB who didn't throw a single pass last season. They also lost 6 LBs, 2 drafted, 4 transfers (two 4-stars, one 3-star, one 4-year ST player). While Texas lost 2 AA DTs, Sweat and Murphy only played 50% of the snaps. While Texas lost J. Ford, Anthony Hill Jr. (5 sacks, 4 hurries as a true FR) will fill that void nicely. The Texas Oline may very well be the best in the country, it may be between Texas and LSU. But standing behind that Oline is a top 5 RB room and the best QB room in the country. At WR, Texas got Bond from Alabama, Golden from Houston (tied for team lead in TDs last season), J. Cook II, R. Wingo, P. Livingston, D. Moore...arguably the best WR room in the country, and I didn't even include Niblack at TE. Too many changes at Michigan, on the field and the sideline. Texas will win this by double digits as well. Memories of last year will help motivate the Longhorns. That and having a better overall team will propel Texas to a win here. This is a toss-up if you consider another 10-point win a toss-up. I know some of you are saying, "Texas/OU...Red River Shootout. You never know." Here, just like Michigan, a 1st year starter isn't going to beat this Texas team. Georgia is a legit toss-up. This game could go either way. A&M will play with inspired hate. And it'll be cute. Seriously though, this game will be closer than Michigan.

Gelling as a receiving core with the qb is a concern with so many new faces in a complicated offense. If that gets rolling the offense should be gtg, the defense is a concern for a few reasons. I have a bias against Texas, but I try not to let it get in the way of me making a realistic prediction/opinion. I think they might go 9-3. Maybe even 10-2.. That schedule is favorable compared to others, outside of Mizzou. Their redzone offense looked bad last season from what I can remember, and it has me wondering if that problem will continue, especially considering that they lost all of those experienced receivers.

However, if we set that fantasy pre-condition aside, a 9-3 / 8-4 record is the most realistic expectation. Utx has 6 toss-up games in 2024: @Michigan Oklahoma in Dallas Georgia @Arkansas Kentucky @A&M Sarkisian is no Saban, Kirby, or DeBoer. "Seven-win Steve" has always been a good OC but a very mediocre HC. In 2024 he'll return to form. Like Mike, I expect Ewers to be Wally Pipped by the Manning kid by game 8. The 2024 qb situation in Austin is very similar to 2021 in Norman when another overrated & overhyped upperclassman Big12 qb (Spencer Rattler) lost his starting qb job to a far more talented underclassman (Caleb Williams).
