Greetings from Germany. I love this campus. I have been an exchange student in 2013 🥰 I used to live at bobcat village for one semester. I miss it so much!

Thanks for taking the time to film this. It's been decades since I've been there, and wow, how things have changed! Class of 82.

Thank you for this wonderful tour. It was nice being able to discover new places on the campus that I had never seen and without having to walk up all those stairs and inclines.

It's hard to describe how much different the campus is now compared to how it was back in 1965 to 1973. Originally it was called "Southwest Texas State Teachers College" and was referred to as "the friendly college on the hill". The name changed (in the 1950s I think) to "Southwest Texas State College" ... That's what it was called when I started there in the summer of 65. And it was still somewhat like the friendly college on the hill at that time (though there were former students that would disagree I think). But things started changing fairly quickly about that time (due to LBJ's presidency) ... it started growing fast (into becoming what seems to me to be a shrine to LBJ). I think it was some time in 1966 that the name changed again ... this time to "Southwest Texas State University" (I remember at the time I wasn't especially crazy about that myself ... changes were coming pretty quickly). Anyway, after a Bachelor's and Master's degree I left for College Station. And since that time it's grown into what seems to me to be a monolithic concrete jungle (especially with that walkway that goes over a good part of the campus to connect it to what used to be the San Marcos Academy which somewhere along the line became part of the University campus after the Academy went belly up). That walkway literally changed the whole feeling of the campus ... and there's so many students now. Back in 65 I think the student population was around 5 to 6 thousand. A far cry from what it is today. I lived in a number of places off campus back then. Though I suspect they're not around anymore ... except maybe for 202 Walnut ... it might still be there. And of course finally the name was finally changed to Texas State University. I guess time marches on. Anyway this was a nice tour.

@@LOMASATX Glad you liked it LOMAS. It was a nostalgic write it up for me - remembering back. Sorta like this song ... I hope you like it too. Just an old Bobcat remembering the way it was (with all my old college friends ... a few I still keep in contact with after more than half a century) ... take it easy LOMAS (it's a long and winding road) ... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f8yWet2jyKmmmWg.html ... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iLOeqM2D0a3Qdok.html

I was there beginning in 73 and graduated in 75. Haven't been there since. This is the first time I've seen just how big it has grown. Very, very little of what is in the video was there. All gone and all new. My daughter will graduate from there next year.

Greetings, My 5 students plus parents will be taking a tour of this university in May. Unfortunately, we will not be able to have our own tour guide because of the small group- Is there someone who can just give us a brief history or introduction of the school upon our arrival, that would be great! and then we can be on our way to explore ourselves. -Thanks
