In my younger years when I lived in Michigan it was code to glue drywall to studs but only when metal studs are used. Personally I know glueing the drywall to studs either metal or wood is the best way to install it.

I'm thinking of using OSB instead of drywall. It's cheaper and already has texture. Just paint, stain, or leave natural according to your taste and you're good to go. It's a less formal look but that's what I like anyway. Can you see any problems with this plan?

Very impressed with your work and how clean your job sites always are. I did countertops for a while and hated it when i would have to clean up some other trade's mess before i set up my work area. Hopefully one day we will buy one from y'all. We talk and dream about it often.

Not building a barndo but am looking to do this texture in my house. Can you rent a machine like that or just pay someone to do it? I did a pretty good job once in a condo with the cans.

OMG handling a 12 footer with one man, I can feel things popping and ripping right now.

I figure I could hang the stuff with a sheet rock lift, ( slowly) and hire some one to tape and texture, unless I would be in over my head since I am not 25 anymore.

I grew up in texas and everywhere has this stuff!!!! in utah we call it orange peel, we see it mainly in motels and some older stuff usually pre late 90's, here but even back then most people did smooth walls. which took some getting used to when I moved here. most places here use a hok knockdown for the ceiling and wholly smooth texture on the walls. wholly smooth is very nice for doing wall repairs. Heck even I can fix a wholly smooth wall, LOL. I bet people in texas would love wholly smooth if they saw it, looks like the walls are frescod, mexican style, LOL. drywall is my most difficult trade, (I own a disaster cleaning company) around here a guy that really husseled could make $1000/day just doing drywall repairs. drywall repair is in big demand. the guys that do new drywall aren't good at repairs and vis versa.

I did drywall texturing for about 10 years, it require a certain skill and stamina, especially when you are getting paid by the sheet.

I hate messing with sheet rock. I can't even stand the sound it makes when cutting it with a razor knife. It's like raking your fingernails across a chalkboard, makes my skin crawl.

Looks great! However I think they should be wearing safety glasses and helmets!! Why do people think they look so cool without the proper protection. Unfortunately people who fall off those stilts and or get drywall shaving in their eye aren't going to look so cool in a hospital bed and maybe not responding for awhile or ever! Im a realtor in Nashville TN and I know a lot of builders who require protection even if they are subs. It all goes back to you ( the builder) allowed then in the home! Hope they like been recorded that's awesome! Keep up the good work!!! 😁

glue and screws are great , until you have to do a repair ..... I can already hear the guy cussing who has to replace damaged sheetrock in the future .... "Damn , they used glue and screws !!!! Hey Lady , sorry but this is going to cost more !!!"
