The International Quilt Museum presents “Abstract Design in American Quilts at 50” with Jonathan Holstein and Dr. Carolyn Ducey for this week’s Textile Talk.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of “Abstract Design in American Quilts”, a 1971 exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City. Widely credited with helping bring art world attention to quilts, Abstract Design in American Quilts featured graphic pieced quilts hanging on the walls more commonly used to showcase large, mid-20th century abstract expressionist paintings.
