Mentally ill content creator indulges in his masochistic tendencies for a second time as he decides to dedicate another one hundred days of his life to playing a silly character in a 17-year-old video game.
Big thanks to ‪@monki_lol‬ for all of his work animating the intro section to each part! He also made a beast intro but because of music industry bureaucracy, it will be uploaded separately at a later date. Also, thanks to ‪@Dominzki‬ for his work animating the final scene and for his amazing sound design work throughout.
Thank you to both of my wise elders ‪@Fatmagic‬ and ‪@jbirdTF‬ who took the time to review my VODs. That additional advice was super important to my progress so make sure to check them out.
And an even BIGGER shout-out to all three people who understood my NBA references!

Do you know what's the hardest part about running a marathon? It isn't training, or even the marathon itself, it's finding a way to bring it up in every conversation that you've run a marathon.
@InVinoVeratas
@InVinoVeratas 10 күн бұрын
4:23:59 Can't believe he was doing both his sniper Challege and training for a Marathon at the same time, no wonder his mental health was likely exhausted by day 90 onwards, ontop of dealing with a large influx of bots that reduced his K/D from a +3. Ratio to a 2.4. I can imagine lesser gamers getting extremely vexxed about the K/D ratio alone, not including the bots and training for a Marathon.

One thing stoics are often neglect is that ‘will power’ is an abstract construct. People break, bodily systems break, mindsets break. Being near the end, caring for yourself, preparing, testing yourself, and other such things are important. You reaped the benefits of what you have cultivated, had an end in sight, had a considerable incentive for completing this challenge, and faced the consequences of ignoring your body. The mind, and the will, are not closed systems, they are emergent. I think it’s really cool that you decide not to go quite so hard (or at least so long) next time you do one of these challenges. Also RIP elmaxo’s new fan. True LoL player moment!

Elementary level understanding of stoicism.
@revolutionaryfoxinist2377
@revolutionaryfoxinist2377 15 күн бұрын
@@yohanscold2149 regarding my ‘criticism’ or my own position? With respect to the criticism, it’s not a criticism of stoics so much as it is a criticism of some rhetoric that surrounds stoicism in the popular consciousness. I specifically say ‘one thing stoics often neglect’, rather than ‘one thing stoicism fails to consider’, or ‘one things stoics neglect’. Regarding my position, I’m not really a stoic, but am sympathetic to nuanced conceptions of stoicism in light of the fact that an epicurean ideal is extremely difficult to attain in an unjust world. In other words, don’t take what I’m saying to be me giving a stoic position. It’s not my field, it’s far removed from the ethics I’m familiar with, which aligns more around Spinoza, buddhism, and deleuzoguattarianism, the latter of which is the only field I can claim to have some level of expertise on. Edit: Note that I didn’t think there was anything wrong with elmaxo’s view. I was actually more intending to compliment him on the way he engaged with his limits, and express that I’m really happy that he is gonna give them a little respect in the future lol. I tried to imply that he isn’t neglecting things that some self proclaimed stoics seem to want to neglect, or that they often don’t respect, instead focusing predominantly on a cultivation of will power in an abstract sense. Variety, incentive, free time, prior experience, and resolution are all allowed to play a part in the narrative, without reducing the gravity of his achievement. That being said, I’m not saying you’re at fault for misunderstanding, I can’t really claim I got my point off well.

For those unaware, our favorite elite level gamer elmaxo, has unfortunately quit TF2 youtube. You can read his statement on twitter or in his community section. Max, you've always had a magical ability of keeping viewers like me glued to the screen. Not anyone can make me watch a 5 hour long youtube video, but you can. Your excellent script-writing, editing, elite level gaming, and of course, your storytelling- are unprecedented. I think I can safely say on the behalf of all elmaxo fans, you've made one hell of an impact in just 3 years. Your dedication and contributions will *never* be forgotten and I am incredibly excited to seeing your future content that awaits us. Thank you for everything. Fun fact, the snipe is a bird so well camouflaged that they were believed to be a myth for a while, which is why a "snipe hunt" is the same as a "wild goose chase." I've actually heard a different variation. Snipes are birds, but the reason they are hard to hunt is because of their erratic flight patterns making them impossible to hit. Thus, the people who were skilled enough to hit them were called 'snipers' (same as a whaler who hunts whales). I dont think ive ever heard it was because of the camo, but i could be wrong

@@simonnachreiner8380 While the snipe is very hard to hit because of its erratic flight, the "snipe hunt" is a wild goose chase. New hunters would be sent into the woods with various absurd description of what a "snipe" actually was. The reason the snipe was chosen to be this was because it WAS a bird, but it was a bird that very few would actually know anything about. Exhibit A: ever heard of a movie called Up? Half the plot is LITERALLY a snipe hunt. Except there, the "snipe" is an absurd bird that doesn't exist, because the "snipe" of a snipe hunt is an absurd bird that doesn't exist, not the actual bird.

The mix of progress analysis and self-reflection will always make for a compelling video. Crazy how energetic and conversational this video felt given it's nearly 5-hour length, tons of longer videos see people dialing it in and reading monotonously from a badly-edited script. The sheer number of appropriate clips plus this commentary is really great, plus the decision to intersperse some of the marathon training. I also really appreciated the openness about the production process, from the mental health struggles to the intentional seeking of narratives. The difference between "I wanted a whole progression for this Bing Soy shot but I got it on my second try, whoops" and the interactions with Seiran made the Seiran payoff much more fun. All in all, for how masochistic and silly this kind of video is, you manage to pull a lot of meaning into it, which makes this kind of video interesting, entertaining, and even a little bit inspiring, while remaining grounded in the realities of mental health and pressure. It's really a huge achievement and I hope you can feel that way upon reflection!

I already said RIP elmaxo's new fan, but I didn't think I would come back and say RIP to the elmaxo channel. Man, when I started watching this channel, it was the Bing Soy video. I found it so interesting, that I started watching the other videos, even though I had never played TF2 in my life. But man, this channel has done so many cool videos I've watched all of them.. twice. Even the spy video, which I've watched 3 times now. This channel had something special that kept me hooked, even rewatching videos I had already seen. This channel also inspired me to actually try the game. Now, I'm trash, but the dedication this man has is incredible, and I want to match that. I also got some friends to join this game, and play it as well. I went from not caring about TF2 to now playing it with my friends consistently. And if you somehow read this, Elmaxo, I hope you enjoy games again in the future, and best of luck to your future endeavours. I hope to find a new video from you one day, whether it be on this channel, or your second channel. If not, you will always have the TF2 community behind you. Good luck man, and thank you for the amazing videos
