In this episode, James Reeves reviews the modern Welrod pistol, the B&T Station Six. The Station Six is truly a real life spy gun and a modernized take on the integrally suppressed Welrod pistol from the World War II era. This Swiss 9mm bolt-action pistol with removeable integral suppressor could be one of the quietest guns ever made, but is it worth the $2,250 street price these are going for? Watch today's video to get James' opinion and to hear the Station Six in action.

I remember some of the atf BS. The ATF was trying to seize original and reproductions of the welrod arguing that because the wipes are "silencer parts" you have to be a class 3 to service them or have a $200 tax stamp for each wipe.

If the wipes are new, if will make that sound whether it's been recently fired or not. It's actually vacuum, not left over positive pressure from firing. The wipes create a seal at the muzzle, so when you pull the bolt back it creates negative pressure in the chamber/barrel and gives you that sound. Edit: it would also need the spent shell to create the seal and make that noise, if there isn't a spent shell air can enter past the bolt face and you won't get the "airlock" sound.

You guys have probably noticed that I have done more content with B&T over the past year or so. They've had a management change for B&T US and the guys running the show in country now are solid dudes, including John Scott, who I've known for almost 20 years now. I went from owning -0- B&Ts a year ago to now having 2 B&T guns and 2 B&T cans. They've turned a corner for sure. I don't know if this is a your dealer or a B&T issue, but if it was a year ago, it was under old management. Sorry to hear about it nonetheless.

I was always wondering why they never made this chambered in .45 acp? 230 grain ball is already subsonic, as are most .45acp hollowpoints. I'm guessing the much wider diameter bullet punches a bigger hole in the rubber wipes, causing them to retain alot less gas, making the whole system much louder.
@hedgeearthridge6807
@hedgeearthridge6807 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, dont even waste money with .45 hollowpoints, they almost never open. Like Paul Harrell has taught, it's best to test them out first by firing at a milk jugs full of water. Water is the PERFECT medium for hollowpoint expansion since they work by hydraulics. If they dont open in water, they definitely won't open in mammalian tissue which is definitely not a perfect medium. Basically for HP to work, it needs to be going as fast as possible, especially supersonic, which defeats the only redeeming quality of .45 ACP, that it's naturally subsonic for suppressors.

Actually, you are probably exactly right about the issue with the VP-9 grip probably not meeting some arbitrary technical requirement. Remember how the Walther PPK became un-importable after the Gun Control Act of 1968 was passed? The grip was _just_ too short to pass the stipulations of the GCA68 which required imported handguns to match a system that gives points to length, height, and other “sporting features”. Walther got around it, sort of, by introducing the PPK/S which mated the PPK's short barrel and slide to the longer frame of the PP -- until they licensed Interarms to manufacture proper PPK's in the US (and those never seemed to work as reliably as the German-made guns). I'd bet money the cut-off grip of the original VP9 couldn't meet the stipulations of GCA68.

For what it is, it's absolutely worth the price. It's not common to say the least. It would be really cool to shoot and own.

Just watched the same gun being fired on demolition ranch and his was 45acp and it was quite loud still and he had a hard time cycling thenaction especially 1st round load. At the end ,he stated it would be on gunbroker soon.
