I had a Z125, got rid of it, missed it, found a great deal on one of these and picked it up almost a year ago. Compared to the Z125, the TNT135 feels a bit bigger and it has a less cramped seating position. It weighs about 30lbs more but it's not that noticeable. I can get it up to slightly higher speeds than I could get the Z, but it's still not fast by any means - a slight headwind or uphill will knock down the top speed, and I try to stay off of roads with a limit higher than 55mph. Also, the true "GPS" top speed is not 70mph. The speedo is quite a ways off from factory, so you can make it show 70mph, but you won't actually be doing a true 70mph. There is a way to adjust this setting in the dash to make it more accurate - I believe the true top speed is somewhere in the mid 60mph range. The shifting action is better than it was on my Z - I had lots of false neutrals and unintentional dropping of gears with the Z, and nothing of the sort with the Benelli. It has a 5th gear just like the new Grom, and the ratios are pretty close - it makes for a lot more shifting than the Z. The Benelli also uses an oil filter, has an oil sight glass, and comes with an oil cooler stock. There are only a few areas where the lower price point has shown through so far - the clutch lever has a lot of up and down slop from the factory, and the tires are "Cordial" brand (but they seem to get the job done for normal riding). Unfortunately it is currently in the shop to have some hardware replaced under warranty - it was corroded by a leaky factory battery, but I rode the bike ~45 miles of backroads a few days ago to get it to the dealer and didn't have a single hiccup.

I bought one of these about a year ago after also trying the Grom, the Kawasaki Z125 and the cheap Chinese clones. I chose the Benelli mainly because it's a little bigger than the Honda or the Kawasaki, much more comfortable for me. And the extra power and 5-speed transmission are nice too. The quality seems to me at least as good as the Kawasaki or the Honda and to me it's better looking. There's a dealer near me.

I've never ridden a Grom, so cannot comment on them, but I've owned about 30 motorcycles of all varieties over the past 50 years. The mini moto universe is the only realm I've never visited. As a dedicated commuter in a urban-city environment, I thought it was time to take the plunge. Finding a Grom in my state turned out to be an excersise in futility. Finding out dealers were charging 5k OTD for Groms in other areas, made it necessary to move on. In short, I got a TNT135 for 3k and it has reinvigorated my love of riding. It's a total blast to rip around the city like a fool and totally under the radar. It takes me back to that feeling I got from the Honda Mini-trail I started on in 1970. Quality-wise, the only real standout cheapness, is the clutch lever. That is the only part that lives down to the "Chinese junk" reputation. Everything else is done very nicely and at least on par - if not better - than both Ninjas I've owned. Time will tell about reliability, but no issues yet as a daily rider, and more fun than I ever imagined. If your are looking for a peewee, don't pass these by, at least look, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I've checked these out (haven't ridden it) at my local dealer. They look decent, but taller riders are going to have their knees smacking right into the tank shrouds. Touch points are very important and that unfortunately makes this bike a no-go for me. Check out the Kymco Spade 150. It's more of a Honda Monkey killer given the retro styling, but it absolutely is a Grom/Monkey killer. It's a 4 valve head and makes 13 hp. I owned a Spade for a few months a couple years ago and it would push my 250 lbs + over 70 mph without tucking. For the $1500 I paid for that used Spade, it was a cool little bike. I did prefer the taller seating position on my Monkey and sold the Spade for a few hundred more than I paid.

Being a China-made/produced motorcycle, this is a competitor to the Taotao Hellcat (about $1200). It should be priced around $1500 due to the upgraded top end of the engine. For $3000, this is WAY overpriced. Zero dealer support, zero manufacturer support, and basically no resell value. It'd be a fun ride, but it is not comparable to the quality of a Grom.

2 years warranty, in my country parts and aftermarket is cheap and plenty enough. Had 2 1st gen groms, first one welded itself stuck during a 400 kms trip after warranty, second one blew 2 headgaskets and brake lever fell off within 20k kms. Not to say the benelli hasn't had its problems, the oem chain broke off before the first service, i need to adjust the chain every 200 kms because it tightens itself up, had to adjust the rear brake and throttle, valves need to be checked every 3k kms. However it has now over 40k kms (most of those were on highways near to 9 k rpm) and it is still alive. I also own a mt 07 with just 10k kms (0 problems) and a benelli 302s with 5k picking up dust in the garage due to a broken crankshaft, i am by no means biased. Also in my country the grom costs almost twice as much as the tnt (2600 euros vs 4500 euros)

Im 70yrs old, and at 255lbs, that little bike pulls me just fine, and the fastest top speed i had it to going with the wind was 68mph and its stock. 50-55 is the norm for this bike, but like another person said, i don't go on roads with limits over 50-55mph, and going against the wind will cut that limit down a lot. People always comment about how nice it looks, and ask where to get one, and these are pretty scarce. Im in Illinois, and i found mine in Iowa, 445mi. away, but i did a turn and burn, went there with cash in hand and brought it home. The abs model was higher because of the abs brakes, and other things, bigger motor, 5 speed trans and what not $3,800.00 and $4,100 out the door with taxes and set up and all, but i would not sell it for double that, to hard to replace, and a fun little bike. I will look into this Benneli TNT-135 though, if it has the power they say it does, and a little better top end, i might pick one up, but i will never trade, or sell my grom. They have the big bore kits, and high perf stuff for the grom, but i just cant see tearing apart a brand new bike for a few more miles per hour. But i am looking for a pair of throw over bags, or a hard bag setup for carrying other stuff, tools, mini usb air compressor and things. Iv'e always been a Harley, and Goldwing guy, and toured a lot of states with my wife over the years, but, i like my small bikes also, for trips on the back roads. I think true Grom riders, and owners will never give them up for these other bikes, but they will buy one, and ride it, and park it in the garage next to their grom. The first to months i had my Grom, i put 1043mi. on it, then cold weather showed up, but 60 degrees and higher, ill be ridin.

most apple products are assembled in China so are most of your computer motherboards and other electronic parts. China once ruled the world in years gone pass during the Klan Dynasty. I sold both of my 2014 Groms which had Takegawa 181-4v engine once I bought my first 2020 Benelli TNT 135. Where can you get 5 speed, 4v 135cc engine, onboard oil cooler, LED lights, and cool looking for a lot less price compared to the Grom.

Man I bought my grom in early November. I've not had hardly any time to ride it cause its freezing outside but I've done alot to it, exhaust intake, tune.... But these bikes look soooo good. Look at that brake pedal. The grom has a brake pedal made of tin. I went offroad and spilled myself onto the road and rolled a few times, shook it off and grabbed the Grom and the brake was sticking up 90° one good foot slam bent it back down. Point is. Nothing should bend that easy. Weird for Honda to skimp on a part so serious.

As a Benelli tnt135 owner, stock for stock it will beat the Z125 and Grom. Quality is actually really good. I have about 700 miles and average about 92mpg. The speedo has to be calibrated and the top speed is exactly 65. that is 5th gear on the limiter. It is super easy to work on. My biggest complaint is the total lack of under seat storage. Plan to shove your insurance and registration in your pocket or backpack.

Nice looking bike but in the country that I live in, Grom parts are dirt cheap and plentiful. This includes a head with bigger valves (28/24) for $40, a block and piston upgrade (160cc) for another $40, a racing cam for $10, bigger injector for $12, higher flow exhaust $20 and ECU mapping for $15-$20. Everyone knows that Italian bikes are notorious for having loose tolerances and dirty assembly.

The difference is: I have a Honda PC50 moped from 1970 that still starts first pedal and rides beautifully. I’d bet my Honda moped will still be running long after that Benelli is toast. Hondas are built to last forever if they are maintained basically, and the parts and service are easy to deal with. I prefer the Monkey to the Grom by far just on looks, but I’d never step away from Honda to save a few hundred bucks.

I love the idea of these little bikes but I really would need it to be able to do 120 km/h without issue to be usable where I live since you have to take the freeway to get just about anywhere. If these mini bikes were 150cc instead they'd be a lot more usable, I think.

You'd be surprised. If you use the "avoid highways" setting on Google maps, you'd be surprised how many B-roads there are in cities that can get you where you want to be. Sometimes faster than the highway if you get green lights. I used to ride a 250 in San Diego, but I never took the highway because I didn't wanna do 80mph all the time on it.

@@pauld.b7129 Depends on the town. In my large Canadian city, you need to take either 80 km/h roads (people go 100) or the freeway to get anywhere in remotely decent time. The Grom is nearly fast enough flat out, but another little bit would really make it more useful.

My biggest concern with it is aftermarket support, and the fact it's a vertical upright bike. I'd feel confident in saying that at least 40% of enthusiasts who buy the Grom (notice I said enthusiasts and not COMMUTERS) are stunters or people who pick up the front tire even slightly from time to time to have fun with the bikes lightweight nature. Having an engine that is vertical like this may cause serious oil starvation to the pump depending on where it's located, we'll see.

U say its a grom killer. But wat about aftermarket accessories, what about exhaust upgrades, what about pcv programming for this bike, what about dealer support and warranty, and what about the life of this engine can u expect it to last over 20k mi like the grom? I think ull find much if these are short coming with the bike much like the z125pro there isnt as many aftermarket accessories for the z125 as there is for the grom either. I would assume the benelli has even less available to it. And in small bikes its really all about the torque so they give u a bigger bike with like 1ft/lbs less torque then ur losing there. Ive personally got to 65mph on my 2022 grom on the flats on the interstate and my grom is completely stock. Ive done a max of like 75mph on the interstate but then it started to speed wobble these tires just werent designed for those speeds so they get out of shape over it literally. And im about 190lbs so i aint a light rider.

I looked at all the mini's, and I bought the Lifan. Had a bout a year now, NOT A SINGLE ISSUE!, its a 150, I'm close to 280 lbs, In my 70's , and I can do 63 mph without Redlining. I also put knobbies on it and as long as pick your line so as to keep in mind the low pipe, you can churn thru dirt with a serious grin on your face. For what I do, traveling secondary paved roads to run the dirt back roads that about in my US South Central rural area, it's simply one hell out of lot of fun. A lighter guy could change the primary sprocket and get 70 mph, good torque for a 150. Oh, last thing, the Lifan is less expensive than ALL the other mini's, and less than half the price of the Grom / Benelli out the door. Heck, in the state I'm in, there aren't even any taxes on the purchase cause the price is so low....:)

Its all depends on the aftermarket parts availability, machine pricing, sales support, resale value and budget of individual riders. Some are so tight budget that they go for china made cfmoto motorcycles or even taiwan made sym or kymco. You are not wrong about the benelli though. But any given day, i wont feel ashamed of riding taiwan made tgb delivery scooter instead of the bmw gs adventure. I dictate my ride instead of my ride dictate me. But of course my weekend ride are husqvarna 701 supermoto and yamaha vmax. To all riders around the world, im happy with whatever rides yall can afford.
