I know!! 😂😂. I am someone who doesn’t generally retain patina. As I saw them putting the box back 9n the frame in the rehash at the beginning, I was saying,, nooooo, finish it, spray the front of t(e box and at least the back of the cab so they don’t have to come off again,,,,,, hahaha. If it was me, the bodywork would be perfect at the same time. They had the pieces off so it would have been easy to do. I’m not complaining though. This is THEIR build and THEIR budget. I am just here for the ride!!

This is a Great Series. I don't watch a lot of long videos but everything about this truck is interesting, the old things and the new. Thanks for providing so much information about it and the process that got it to this point. I can't even imagine what all you had to organize from everyone to make this happen. Great Video

Those springs are shot and you guys should try to replace them, probably with some lighter duty with a little more of a lift. At 11:48 if you slow down the play back speed you can see with that little drop the bump stop slams into the frame (its already too close because the springs are tired and lost any arc they had). You can also see that this has happened so much that its bending the frame.

Spot on, I was going to say the same thing. It's a waste of time spending time and resources on multi-thousand dollar dampers and tuning if the base set up is not correct. Parabolic leaf springs would do wonders for this truck, then have the Fox guys tune the dampers correctly. I get these guys are having a ball with all their projects, but I find that so much of what they do is in the wrong order....

A lot of the ride issues are related to stiff springs, heavy tires and a very supple frame… you can see the frame moving around a lot. A stiffened chassis with some bracing would help with wheel control.

Back in the day the fenders and beds were tough and the frames were weak. Back in the day the steering column was strong and would stab you through the chest while the lack of head rests would allow your noggin to crush itself though the back window. Everything in life is a trade off!

I like the old E100,, a lot!! Watching the setup underneath, the leaf springs there are pretty much done!! They could use a re-arching to get them back to where the suspension is not into the bump stops when empty. The frame is actually bent where the bump stops hit from the past and as such there’s even that much more suspension travel that has been lost. It will give the old truck about 2.5 - 3” more height, but it can handle that even with the tires it has on it. Might give it a better stance overall. It’s a little low in the rear. If doing the rears, TFL, you really need to tackle the fronts as well. No need to purchase new springs if there’s a local place that does the re-arching. Where I live, we have been using the same shop (3 different owners) for decades. They do great work. We are in Canada unfortunately!! 😂😂. Looking great!! Not sure if you still have the truck, or access to it, but the springs really are tired. I am suggesting a cheaper alternative to full replacement for ya. The budget is always a factor!!! Andrey on the logs had me laughing so hard!!! 😂😂😂 He’s hilarious!!

Important to mention that the spring holds the weight while the shock controls how fast the spring bounces in both directions. Spring reacts to force(weight) while shock reacts to velocity, or the speed of the bump. High-speed means sharp bump frequency like washboard and potholes. Low speed means widely-spaced rolling hills and jumps.

Yeah, the shocks won't bottom out as the bump stops (which are like 2 inches from the frame) will hit first. Why not fix that for a little more travel?
@shitloveaduck
@shitloveaduck Жыл бұрын
So true. They may not be fully aware of it until now. I have made a suggestion, as well as yourself and many others. You make a lot of sense as there’s just only so much travel left in those tired old springs and it’s no where near what the shocks themselves have left. Whatever they do will create some lift, 2.5 - 3”, but even with that the tires are large enough. The bump stops have hit hard enough to bend the frame where they are hitting,,, !!! 😂😂. That’s some weight!! Heh heh.

I think they were waiting for the transfer case with low range, I thought it was just out of stock or something at the time of the build. Will be way more versatile with that hi/low range. Although I think it would have been cooler if they kept the manual transmission in it. Would only have to use the clutch to change gears in motion, but not starting and stopping.
