I noticed that the gear shifter doesn’t have the Sport (S) gear on the Lariat trim. Does the XLT come with it? I like that feature on my current 2019 model. It gives a nice boost to the throttle response, alters the shifting, and disables the auto stop.

I agree on the ability to haul 4x8 sheets of plywood etc!! The looks?? I prefer the previous Ranger. The new one looks boring, especially when compared to the GM twins and the new Tacoma. That being said, I’m a Ford fan and will wait fully until I see one in person later next week, when I’m back in town. They apparently have one coming in for test driving. The pricing puts Ford as the most expensive midsized truck out there, just slight over Toyota pricing,,,. That’s a problem. Ford’s pricing of Kate is excessive compared to the competitors. Ram is worse, but not by much. Fortunately, here, there are rebates up to $14,500 CAD on the existing 2023s and I have seen as much as $4,000 on the new 2024. Dealerships are hungry for sales & competition is heating up to the point that they can no longer demand the stratospheric prices the place as MSRP! Whew! The discounts by the most aggressive dealers put the trucks back into perspective. Demand is still very high on the midsize trucks unfortunately. I’ll wait a couple years to see where things settle.

Being able to haul a full sheet of plywood got my attention, but still won’t consider buying one till they lengthen the bed to at least 6’, prefer it at 6.5’. The only thing Andre didn’t show with the lariat is the payload on that truck, the XL had a great payload for its size

I agree with the premise that it is expense and I don't mean to be snarky ... but honestly, all elements of what goes into building a vehicle are UP, way UP. Think about labor - up 20%, fuel (for running the factory) up at least 10%, transportation up at least 20%, materials up, etc. If you go buy a BigMac and wonder why it is $5.99 vs what it was 4 years ago at $2.99 ... there is your answer.

I like the Lariat FX-4 because I like a number of the extra goodies, but the one I would come home with is the XL STX. Because the STX has everything I would use regularly. While I would enjoy a number of the extra features on the Lariat, with the STX, I would not miss not having them. But I definitely like the $15,000 to $20,000 lower price. That part does not get old. I also like cloth seats and the less cluttered look of the interior. However, I will not be purchasing either of them because I buy a pickup for that big box in the back. And neither truck has a big enough (as in long enough) Box. I can do more with the older generation trucks which were set up to carry stuff in the bed, not extra people in the front.

I wanted the AT4 but they just didn’t have any other options with 4WD and the reason for my purchase was my last car was totaled so I couldn’t wait. While I think the GM product is still by far the best looking, I think this Ranger is going to provide the most value especially considering you can get lockers for a relatively affordable option on all trims instead of forcing your way up. Even then that price seems a bit high...as nice as the 2.7 sounds, I have never felt underpowered with the 2.3...put in 93 octane and she is at around 300 hp...on long trips I am getting around 22 to 23 mpg...not impressive when larger trucks can get similar mileage..but the truck is very solid thus far and I hope to keep her for at least another 75K miles before getting another XL...here is to me getting an XL in 2027 or 2028...blue please :) great video and thank you.

In the UK the base model is the XL which is available with single cab, double cab and also with a bare rear chassis. The base model also has steel wheels and the same 10" base screen. The payload here is higher and varies between 2350lb and 2650lb for the base model depending upon if the single or double cab is selected. The Raptor is much less. The single cab bed length is 7'7" so when it becomes available in North America it possibly won't vary from that length. The towing limit on all versions here is 7700lb due to regulation, except for the Raptor which is 5500lb.

What is the new hang up on “steelies”?? I lived through them when it was extremely rare you could get alloys. The steel wheels rust, chip, look like crap, even powder coated ones. They are potentially beneficial off-road, but when you are going extreme, otherwise the alloys are stronger, mor brittle, but overall stronger. Steel wheels bend under heavy loads off-road (I know, I replaced my fair share & my tire shop watched the evolution of the different wheels used over the last 42 years), but will generally get you home. If an alloy wheel fails you need to replace it, I get that, but the failure rate of alloy wheels is very low. There have been a lot that have failed, more on cars, due to drifting and road stupidity, but steel wheel soul survive that same abuse either. I have heard that you can hammer a steel wheel back into shape to re-inflate it. We have tried (successfully) in the shop, but that’s nowhere as easy as a person thinks. The wheel was clean & we had special tools to get the tire to seal on the beads. Anything is possible & people have re-aired tires off-road, more often than not, though, an attempt to re-air the tires off-road fails. Often, it’s likely the alloy wheel may have survived the damage the steel wheel folded under! The basic land steel wheels TFL has decided they like are terrible cheap wheels that work well for winter tires. Maybe at least look at styled steel wheels like the white spoke alloys on the Discovery that simulate steel. They created an alloy to “simulate “ steel!! Think about that! 😂😂.
@adaycj

TLDR. However I agree. Many of these vehicles already have 900 wheel choices. Just let the aftermarket supply the steelies for the few that want them for their snow tires or their off-road tires.
