@@SHENJIU. honestly i don't think it was "immediately" she saw how sj abused lbh for YEARS,, not to mention there were rumors that sj had designs for nyy when she was just a disciple how could she trust him when everyone around nyy had warned her about him that's why i said she was misunderstood by the fandom; they don't see things from her pov, and they erase lbh's torment as if it was no big deal, as if he deserved it as a child. but in the novel others "understand" her, even though they were probably the ones who put this idea into her head, no one blames her for siding with binghe. they know why she did that, and they see her as a victim also i'm sorry for the late reply!!

Honestly, I don’t think LBG went through little. He went through a lot, from our perspective. But from what I remember, how Shen Jiu treated him ASIDE FROM THROWING HIM INTO THE ABYSS. Was actually normal.. back then? Like, LQG apparently did the same thing Shen Jiu did but to all his disciples. And very constantly too, and so did Shen jiu’s shizun. I’m still confused about how ancient Chinese kind of stories work, but apparently that was the normal thing to do back then, especially for those who had the type of cultivation LBG did. Which is probably why LBG was so strong in the end- I think?? I’m still so confused and I’m just diving deeper, aren’t I??? 😭 But I do agree now that I’ve actually opened my mind, those who pushed the thoughts into her head were the ones who are the actual problem- how they always were. Well, most of the time. But, honestly, I have a lot to learn about Chinese stories, especially this one, because i definitely subconsciously skipped over some stuff 😭

@@SHENJIU. no imo those ppl weren't the actual problem; sj abused a child and suffered its consequences, if someone abused my friend (or any child at that) in front of my eyes i'd do the same thing. it's not that deep actually, we just like to make excuses for the things/ppl we love (like sj) lqg's and sqq's peaks are different; yes lqg beats his disciples but they're physical cultivators,, you can't learn how to fight if you don't fight. (and if i'm not mistaken lqg doesn't choose disciples, his disciples climb bai zhan to join the peak,, so it's their choice to get beaten/fight) qing jing is a scholar peak, and the disciples are spiritual cultivators (i think) they're more focused on the four arts than fighting,, lbh may have potential for physical cultivation but that's not sj's problem, he's a qing jing disciple, not a bai zhan. and his punishments aren't fighting, it won't help him with his cultivation. they're just there to bring pain and shame to him. (like being whipped, or bowing down at the entrance of the peak for hours/days. lqg doesn't punish his disciples as training, he actually trains them the way he should) not to mention sj does this to have fun,, he punishes lbh when there's nothing wrong. even he himself says that he can't be happy when others are happy, someone has to get hurt for him to be happy. seeing binghe (who has potential) ruined, flatters his ego. he wants to ruin his cultivation like how wu yanzi ruined his,, he enjoys seeing him in pain like how qiu jianluo enjoyed seeing him in pain. that's why we call it an abuse cycle, sj is a mix of his abusers (except the sexual part) while it is true that sj is cold towards men, we don't know how he is towards his other disciples. but if he tortures rich-noble kids, the sect will be in trouble, so i assume this is a special treatment for binghe, who is an orphan. (also it looks like sj has a great relationship with mf and his parents?) and it's true that such things were acceptable in ancient times. (abuse of wives, child labor, child abuse, slavery) but that doesn't make what sj did acceptable, if it were then the things qjl did should also be considered normal. after all,, a master can do whatever he wants to his slave, this is to be expected. sj is not a morally good character, the tragedy of his character, his past is what makes him interesting and that's why most of us like him. but he's still a shit sldjfsdh
