My dad uses oyster sauce to marinate his pork. But I never hear anyone else say they use it.

I am going to try this tomorrow, about 3 years ago I had this in Vietnam on vacation and loved it, I purchased your cookbook while there, and havent tried making this yet, but I will tomorrow :)

That looks like a Visions Cookware pot. They don't make them anymore (I don't think) but you can find them online.

Hi Helen, I love this dish, and I've also seen your 2012 video of this dish. The ingredients are more or less the same but your steps are a bit different here, such as blanching the pork beforehand and not directly saute-ing it in the caramelized sugar. What are the differences in the end product from these two different methods? Or are they similar? Thanks!

Hi Jin,blanching helps reduce the bad smell and keep the pork in shape. The other step was still the same I believe

Hi Helen, thank you for this recipe. You have another version of this dish where you do not parboil the pork. What does parboiling do?

Parboiling helps reduce the bad smell of pork. It depends on the quality of pork

Question. In the recipe you said to marinate the pork belly in condensed milk, but it's not shown in the video. Is the condensed milk optional?

If you don’t have coconut juice. Can you just use water? Also people use bamboo in the dish?

Follow the recipe and you will get the same result as me ^^ You can also put the egg in in the very beginning of the cooking process to achieve the right color you want!

I searched 1 kg to how many pounds? And google says 2 lbs but the video doesn’t look like 2 lbs to me… my bowl had a lot….. wondering if that’s actually 2 lbs?
