You have seen Lawrence in the Kanchana dance video, where you mistook him to be a woman (with blood on face).. He was also the one omitted from the top 10 dancers video, along with Prabhudeva, because they both are that good.. 🙂

This song seems to be nearly 20 years old...How thalapathy Vijay has reinvented himself since then is quite amazing! And he has managed to stay not just fit, but also relevant and entertaining..that's a lot of hard work.

The dancer with Vijay is Raghava Lawrence who is a wonderful dance master and the choreographer for this song. By the way, the lyrics of this song are extremely positive, motivational and energetic. That is what makes this so unique.

Every actor in south India, regardless of which industry (i.e. Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada & obviously Tamil) always refers to Vijay as the best dancer. Especially since he had no training what so ever. He’s really close friends with Prabhu Deva and has done many numbers with him!:)

THALAPATHY is the title that his fans have given him. It means "General" or "Commander"! Vijay was once "Ilaya THALAPATHY" meaning "young general" something like a prince to a King! Since he crossed 45, he changed the title to just THALAPATHY! 🙂 I'm a "THALA" (Leader) Ajith fan. Though the fan war between Thala and Thalapathy is epic in India, we love watching either of their blockbuster performances! 🤗👍

Hey guys! Here's a little bit of info to clear things up. It's a common practice for people to be given honorary titles, especially when they're celebrities, artists or renowned individuals. (ex. 'Super Star' Rajinikanth, 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan). In the cinema industry, the title is sometimes created as a marketing/identifying tool or given by fans. Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar is the Vijay in this song. He started as a child artist in 1984, but wasn't a main lead until 1992. In 1991, the movie 'Thalapathy', directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Rajinikanth, came out. Rajini was a huge star already and Vijay had commented on having been a huge fan. 'Thalapathy' means leader or commander. Vijay was credited with the title 'Ilayathalapathy' in 1992, meaning young leader/commander, as a sort of foreshadowing/parallel/nod. In 2017, his director at the time and him decided to drop the 'Ilaya' and go with just 'Thalapathy'. By this time, Vijay was extremely popular, not so young anymore and was a senior in the industry. So it made more sense. On the other hand, Vijay Sethupathi, the other popular Vijay, started acting in 2004 in small/uncredited roles and got his first lead in 2010. His title is 'Makkal Selvan', meaning 'people's son/treasure' kind of like saying 'Our boy/Boy next door', but he usually gets credited with just his name.

Saw this movie in dolby Naga Theatre, Bangalore in 2003 which is now defunct and no longer there, the movie that changed Vijay's image amongst the masses & he was the brash, charismatic & flamboyant Vijay till 2010 which the fans loved, from 2011 he's toned down his mass level, he's still the same but he no longer does the mass elements in his 30s. Rick by the way, that dance was one of my teenage days rage, we did that in our classes.
