Neighbors - so excited to breakdown this SE dish! It's a go-to veggie side dish in Thailand called Pak Pak Boong. Also referred to as Kangkong in Indonesia and other Southeast Asia. I've been trying to find a recipe that brought out that late-night street flavor. And boy did we nail it!!! Make it at home ya'll. All you need is 5 minutes.

I'm Thai and I approve this. You could also press the garlic cloves with the blade of a knife as well. Simpler. This dish goes well with porridge too :)

lol Fire extinguisher on the ready. For non-Thais, this dish is sometimes stir-fried and flambéed by street food vendors for theatrical effect. I don't suggest you try it at home unless you know what you're doing. lol

Greetings from Finland. We really do youse those branches and leaves tied together in the sauna. :D Usually the bath broom is made out of birch, which is a common tree in Finland. The bath broom is called Vihta in finnish.
@FutureNeighbor
@FutureNeighbor 4 жыл бұрын
I miss it! That faint smell of birch as you sweat it out!! Question: How long does that leave last for? Is it newly made every season?
@siljanousiainen538
@siljanousiainen538 4 жыл бұрын
@@FutureNeighbor The smell is so good!! Glad you have tried it. Usually the leave will wither during the sauna session, so usually the branches are changed after one use, but usually this is tradition only during the special occasiosn now days :)

@siljanousiainen538 4 жыл бұрын
@@xraytooth It should help with relaxation, surface blood circulation, muscle and joint aches, removing some dead skin cells etc. The birch leaves also contain essential oils which could help with inflammations. So there might be some benefits and it also feels and smells nice :D The way we use it might just seem a bit odd because you kind of hit yourself with the bundle of leaves.

Viewers, if you're REALLY pressed for time when trying to get loads of side dishes together, Kewpie Deep Roasted Sesame Dressing works really well with wilted, pan-fried Morning Glory and crunchy brocolli florets. I've never added anything to just the dressing, but maybe you could add some other things, like a teeny bit of honey or even chopped tofu or quinoa? I wonder if that would work. One way to find out. Thanks for always inspiring me Dan-yul! xo

Am I the only one that noticed Daniel said "garlic stems" when he added in the morning glory stems?? LOL Anyway, the world market in Jeju is a rip off. They sell these, but it's maybe five stalks in one pack for 4,000 won. -_- I miss eating morning glory and the canola flower stems so much, but I'd have to buy at least 10 packs to get a decent amount to cook..T_T
