Thames Path pt 11 Vauxhall Bridge to the Thames Barrier

This is the final 16 miles of my Thames Path walk which takes me past the Cities of Westminster and London. There is so much to try and capture in these last 16 miles and I have tried to give a picture of the variety of buildings, life and history that make up the banks of the river.
I have been fascinated with the way that we have interacted with the river over the centuries, how people have used it, enjoyed it and lived with it.
I think that if you want to experience what is England then take a walk along the length of the River Thames.

Cheers Clive, the videos are never to long. It was wonderful to see parts of the Thames I have not seen for decades. There have been many changes over the last 65 years…..

Thanks for sharing this series. I've walked from Putney to Greenwich a couple of times, and always wanted to do the full Thames path! maybe one day ... anyway, it was a really fascinating series, so thanks again

Thanks for all the videos of this walk Clive, I discovered lots of useful information to help me when i do the whole walk hopefully in nine days during early September 2020. You made me laugh many times when you got the names wrong, I found myself correcting you out loud while watching it. It’s good also watching it on a large tv. There is one question I would like to ask but not on a public forum. Enjoy your future walks. Cheers Dennis

@@clivestrudwick Finally got to do the Thames Path, & enjoyed rewatching all your videos. It was interesting see various "Clive" sites en-route (flooded paths, campsite etc). If you thought the finish at the Thames Barrier was slightly uninspiring, you should do the "new" bit to Woolwich - redefines "uninspiring"; the foot tunnel entrance is surrounded by a modern leisure centre on 3 sides, & the fourth side is strewn with rubbish & no clear view of the Thames. I really hope something is sorted, after 185+ miles, it would be nice to have it recognised with something. I won't hold my breath! Planning to do the next bit to the Isle of Grain in a couple of weeks, to complete the "source to sea" route. Looking forward to more of your videos in the future, Best Wishes, David

@@DavidMartin-vh4gx Hi David, really glad that you got to do the whole of the Thames Path. I have crossed over the Dartford Bridge a few times since my walk, looking down the path along the Thames on that stretch does look pretty uninspiring. However the thought of walking the river from source to sea is appealing. So maybe later this year I will do that. Thanks for your encouragement I hope you have some more good walks soon. Thanks for sharing your experience of a very interesting adventure. It was very useful for us as we plan to walk the entire 180 mile Thames Path in September 2022.

Thanks Andy, I guess you mean 2023 I hope you get to do the walk I really enjoyed my walk. I am thinking of continuing along the Thames to the sea next year. We shall see ! Clive

@@clivestrudwick. Correct, September 2023. We’ll do the entire walk in 22 days, staying at Pubs and B&Bs with a Sherpa cab to carry our heavy bags between locations.
