@RichardLacyMusic thanks for watching, it is a great walk with a variety of scenery. I loved how it divided into two distinct parts. The first across moorland and the second along the coast line. Really recommend it. Thanks ATB Clive

I just came across you channel. I live not too far from Guildford but I've never done a longer North Downs walk. Maybe I should. Normally a quick walk at Newlands Corner and a coffee does the trick. Anyway I wanted to say I enjoyed this video and I like that you have a very calm way about you and the way you talk about your journey. I also like that your not tempted, like others, to fill your videos with tragic music overlays.

Lived in Dyffryn Nantlle as a kid, but despite our house and farm being on the lower slopes of the ridge I only once walked up to the top (Craig Cwm Silyn). Loved the scenery and seeing the tops of mountains I only knew from below! One criticism, though - you start the video by refraining from attempting to say 'Rhyd Ddu' but then, literally immediately, mispronounce 'Nantlle'!

Hi, thanks for the comments. I love the Welsh language, I tried to learn it years ago but failed totally. It has made me a little reluctant pronouncing place names cos I know most times I will get it wrong, proven on this video. 😂 It was a great days walk, spectacular scenery

Thanks for watching my video. I really enjoyed the walk, I think the Cleveland way has so much to offer in terms of landscape and interesting places to visit. When I walked it there were many other hikers on the trail and I can thoroughly understand its popularity. The east coast of Yorkshire is certainly an under estimated gem. ATB Clive

Hi, thanks for watching my video. No I never have found out what causes the vegetation growth on that water, I think it is a bit strange as it is literally in the middle of nowhere. I have always used my phone for my videos, it as a Sumsung Galaxy A51. I suppose it is a bit of an old model now in the mobile phone world, but I bought it for the specifically for the picture quality. It is a great walk very do-able and scenic. ATB Clive

Hi Clive you looked worried at a few points there, you descended the South of Rhinog Fawr into Bwlch Drws Ardudwy its normally really boggy, the Rhinogs are famous for there lack of paths , the easiest way to navigate is by using the contour lines , and when really unsure break it down into 100m legs relocate then do same again. It is disappointing to not achieve what you set out to do, but its there for another day , so good call not going up Rhinog Fach and across Y Llether , hopefully catch you on a mountain soon, take care. Gabby

Thanks for watching my video. I was surprised how tired I got I was not expecting the walk to take its toll on me so quickly, I was also quite frustrated with loosing the paths so often. Still it was a learning experience which I valued, and I did want to do the Rhinogs for their wildness. So I guess I truly got what I wanted. Thanks for the advice, I will return sometime and do the other Rhinog. Was hoping to this year but so far it has not worked out. ATB Clive

Thanks for your kind remarks. My family is safe. As for the weather in England during our walk, I’m not concerned at all for myself. I’m a seasoned hiker and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2003. And I live in the mountains of Idaho, where we have snow 6 months out of the year. And I’m optimistic for my brother. He’s a regular walker, and I’ve helped him choose clothing and gear for the Cleveland Way trip. Again, I enjoyed watching your videos. Looks like you had a lovely walk. I’ll watch your other videos for sure. Take good care!

Nice video Clive. Feel for you on your long descent though. Another 5 hours after you "topped out" I'm local to the area and I did the whole ridge like you did yesterday, unfortunately in the mist and approx 40 mph gusts, and a steady 20 mph winds. I'd love to know which route you took to get back to Rhyd Ddu. I bet it was quite a meandering one? Any plans for a return to N. Wales?
@clivestrudwick
@clivestrudwick 11 ай бұрын
Hi, sad to hear your weather was not so great, hope you got some good views in tho. When I finished the ridge walk I tried to follow a path that went basically south east down to the valley to the east of the ridge. As you can tell from the video it was not much of a path and I don't think it is on the O/S map any more. I then followed a path along the valley up onto Y Gryn and then through the woods to Rhyd - Ddu. The path runs more or less parallel to the ridge line. I am hoping sometime this year to go back to the Rhynogs to finish my walk there. Thanks for watching my video, hope you have many more good walks in the area. ATB Clive
