Instead of decades, Brady played 21 seasons as starters, minus rookie season and 2008 injured season. That makes the math easy dividing into THREE 7-season durations. Each duration can be a hall of fame career, if someone like Kurt Warner with only 5 or 6 excellent seasons is already in the hall of fame.

The crazy thing about Brady winning 7 is he did it in the salary cap era. When every rule is designed for NFL parity. He also did it beating so many other Hall of Fame QBs. He competed against Warner, Big Ben, Favre, Rodgers, and of course Peyton Manning. Then again against this new crop. Undefeated in the playoffs against Patrick Mahomes. Amazing. Do you know how good you have to be that an undefeated regular season is an "oh also" for your career. We will never see something like this again.

Rich Eisen, you have brought a great deal of insight, thoughtful respect and appreciation of the game of football. I’m a new comer to the sport, maybe no more than 12 - 13 years of watching Tom Brady. I knew nothing about football at all but, when someone pointed out this incredible, talented, enthusiastic and all around wonderful player, it peaked my interest! I wanted to see the greatest, the best of the game. There was a bond that was somehow created. I am sitting here today believing that it is definitely real this time. I get what this means to him. I’m a 76 year old grandma who learned a lot about the sport, the players and the media through watching all his games. I am so glad I discovered you about a year and a half ago. If I must accept the fact that there will never be another game with TOM BRADY as my star attraction, then, I am so glad to listen to you pay tribute to him better than anyone! Thank you Mr. Eisen.

@@DubLubb And you know it started there… exactly how? I’ll say it started when he attended the 1981 NFC Championship game and saw Joe Montana throw “The Catch” to Dwight Clark. The battle with Henson was simply another step along the process that started years earlier. Or I’ll say that what he was to become hadn’t even started until he hooked up with Bill Bellichek. Until then, no one had inspired him sufficiently and that’s why he was a sixth round pick instead of the #1 pick that he should have been. The fact is, no one knows when it started in him. Tom averaged over 1,500 more yards in a year and 8 more touchdowns a year in his 40's then what he averaged per year in his 30's... THE GOAT FOREVER!

I truly think he only came back this last season as a diversion from his personal family issues. He needed some sort of "normalcy" and football was it. Now he's dealt with all of that stuff and he can leave with no further need of the game as that diversion/safe space.

4:57 I thought he was talking to me for a second lol! As a Bucs fan, I would have loved to see one more season to regroup, go for another Super Bowl, and to see him play in the orange jersey. But, thank you for our 2nd championship and enjoy retirement!!!

It's no doubt he's the greatest QB of all time. There are people who come close like Montana, but the fact he went to 10 SB's winning 7 will be unmatched....UNMATCHED. He could be considered the greatest football player of all time but with players like Lawrence Taylor and Jim Brown in the mix that will be a topic of debate for years...decades...to come. But the GREATEST QB EVER...NO DOUBT.

It's a sad day because Tom Brady achievements as a football player represents the best in human achievement. The passion , work ethic, determination to strive to maximize your highest level as a athlete and will to win and compete is what sports is all about. It's what pushes humanity forward in science, technology, and the arts. What a honor to witness Babe Ruth,Bo Jackson,Tiger Woods,Michael Jordan,a horse like secretariat, Tom Brady and Jim Brown. All of these athletes give us a glimpse of God's creation at its ultimate level. I realize it's only sports but these athletes represent human beings striving to be perfect and reaching for perfection even though we know that's impossible for us. Thank you Tom Brady for showing us how to achieve and maximize our human potential. God has blessed you and all of us that got the honor to watch you compete. Much happiness and love in your life.

One other person in this category I forgot to mention is Vince Lombardi. I so admire Coach Lombardi's passion and dedication. He is quoted by Bart Starr during his first meeting with the Packers in 1959. Coach said- Gentlemen we are going to relentlessly pursue perfection full knowing we will not reach it but we will relentlessly pursue it and thereby catch greatness. My God what a honor to play for a Coach like that.

Tom Brady's resume JUST IN HIS 40's is Hall Of Fame worthy. Listen to this (these are his stats ONLY from his 40's): * 6 Playoff Berths * 5 Division Championships * 13 Playoff Wins * 4 Super Bowl Appearances * 3 Super Bowl Championships * 3 Pro Bowls * 1 Regular Season MVP * 2 Super Bowl MVP's * Led the league in completions twice * Led the league in passing yards twice * Led the league in Touchdown Passes once Think about that. Tom Brady could have graduated college at 22, gotten married, had a couple kids, raise them, put in 18 years in a normal career, see his kids off to college, THEN enter the NFL at age 40, and STILL put up a Hall Of Fame career. Absolutely mindblowing longevity.
