Tharu’s have been living in Chitwan for hundreds of years. They are known as "The People of the Forest" and are mostly involved in land cultivation having agriculture as their major source of income. Also, they’re known for hunting river fish and Ghungi (Snail Muscles) considering it as an important food in their cuisine and Tharu celebration. Visiting Tharu village in Chitwan and getting to know more about them was an absolute pleasure.
Through this travelog series, I want to bring out our unique culture, cuisine and characteristics of myriad ethnicities, so that we can better understand, appreciate and celebrate our multi-ethnic faces of Nepal.
