I just peel the fondant off. So long as the cake is good it doesn't really matter because fondant peels off so easily.

@@coconutcake3198tbf, not all fondant is created equally! Some are tastier than others. And of course, if you're a serious sweet tooth haver, fondant isn't going to be as intense as it would be to others lmao

@@AKindOfDog true. I live in the UK and the fondant here tastes pretty good in my opinion. Apparently fondant in the US has all sorts of stuff in it and tastes almost like lipstick…? But I don’t know if that’s true as I’ve never tried it. Fondant also has to be the right thickness. Too much and it’s sickening and too thin and it’s not enough lol.

I don't understand people who complain about fondant. It's decoration, you don't eat other decorations. The cake, filling, and frosting are there for flavor, the decorations are for aesthetic.

Right! And if you don’t want fondant, you just don’t have to order it. Lol. As long as the customer is ok with it, I don’t see a reason not to use it. I feel like it’s a really good choice for decorating.

@@KTr0ck a waste of resources??? Lol what would the cake itself be? Who needs cake? Lol fondant was created to be a food safe way to keep the cake fresh longer. Then it became more popular because it gave the cake a cleaner look. Then people started making it taste better so it was a part of the cake. It was intended to be food safe but not necessarily eatin with the cake. It was to be pulled away once cut.

I actually love fondant. I have yet to find a type of buttercream that I enjoy though. And the thing is, you can peel off fondant quite easily, whereas it's not as easy to remove the buttercream.

It is so satisfying watching you make that smooth. I could literally NEVER. I made a cake for my mom last year and it turned into a chocolate poo mound with flowers. The flowers were great but the base coat, not so much.

I dont like fondant, which is why I with A/take a slice with minimal fondant, or B/take it off. Fondant gives a really clean surface to decorate. The inside, thats where the real business lies! ❤

I'm not a big fan of fondant. I'll nibble at it a little, but I'm a highly sensitive texture eater and fondant is not really a preferred texture of mine. I don't hate it necessarily, but given the choice I'll always choose like a buttercream or whipped icing or something
